Major league-sources indicate that at least two major league clubs -- believed to be the Chicago Cubs and Arizona Diamondbacks -- have an interest in Boof Bonser.
Bonser missed all of last season after undergoing shoulder surgery in the spring, but has bounced back nicely. The Sox like what they've seen to date and believe his best role is as a starter, though they don't have an opening for him.
Bonser could still make the team as a long man, having been stretched out this spring

Arizona might have a spot if Brandon Webb starts the year on the DL. Billy Buckner, Kevin Mulvey and Rodrigo Lopez are effectively competing for two spots. Not sure how old McAdam's second-hand info is, but Lopez had allowed 6 runs in 7 IP prior to yesterday's 3-inning shutout stint.
The Cubs are probably wondering if Ted Lilly's shoulder and knee ailments are going to fester into the season. He threw to hitters for the first time yesterday, and MLB.com reported he wouldn't be ready until mid-April.
You hate to see any thinning of the Sox pitching depth, but they acquired him for peanuts as a reliever, have been preparing him as a starter, and could stand to turn a profit. Not that there'll be a bidding war for Boof, but you never know.
So, what might they get? Worth exploring? Hold onto him in case Daisuke's injuries linger?
