1pm today vs. the Tigers varsity, on MLB.TV

I'm going to hang in there as long as I can avoid any meetings!

And by "Steven Strasburg", I mean "Stephen Strasburg".

Guess I'd better learn that...

7 pitches. 1-2-3 first inning. Hall of Fame, baby.

First big hook just buckled Miguel Cabrera's knees.

...setting up his first career K on a shoulder-high fast ball!

EDIT: RESULT

Nice way to end it -- 3-2 bender to strand runners on 1st and 2nd.

Strasburg gives up solid singles to Kelly and Avila, then comes back to strike out something called a Dlugash to end the inning.

Guessing he's done for the day. Good job, kid.

Dlugash: a colonel in the secret police of un-named eastern bloc country towards the end of the Cold War. Toppled brilliantly, and with much embarrassment, by Jim Phelps and his IMF team. (I dont' think it made the papers, tho.)

I hope the Nats start him off in AA. I'm definitely going to see him pitch for the Senators if they do. It's a nice, intimate park out on City Island.

There's some talk that Strasburg will start the April 3 exhibition up here in DC against the Sox. I will be there and that would be really cool.

They'd be contradicting themselves if they did this. One of their reasons for wanting to start him in the minors (and its a good one) is to let him ease into pro ball without too much hype. With the Sox in town this already going to be close to a sellout and throwing Strasburg in there would only make it more of a circus. Having said that he is the only starter on the staff to have yet to yield a run this spring.

While I agree with not throwing him into the fire immediately, I wouldn't be surprised at all if he was currently their best starter. They should bring him up as soon as they can though, his shoulder is going to explode sooner than later.
