I think my mlb.tv subscription renewed itself... even though the card I used back then had been cancelled? I don't know. I don't care. It wouldnt let me pay for a subscription and now I'm watching baseball. Thats all I care about. Go Pirates!

I went to the Mariners/Giants game in Arizona this afternoon. Lincecum pitched the first inning for the Giants and struggled mightily, giving up 3 runs and going about 30 pitches in one inning (his exact numbers aren't up yet) but the Giants won 8-7 in 10 innings.

Couple other things regarding Timmy was that he trimmed down his locks, looked like he had been locked in a dark room for months and most importantly he worked exclusively from the stretch. His inning was started by an infield error so a couple of them runs will be unearned.

The M's rolled out close to what will be their opening day lineup (aside Jr- one would think). Something like Ichiro-Figgy-Milton Bradley-Junior-Jose Lopez- Byrnzie..give or take. The most notable part was that Figgins was stationed at second base.

Glad we're inching closer to opening day, but spring training just ain't as cool as the Fall League.

Associate Press press reported that Lincecum tried to work from the stretch and avoid the windup completely to throw more strikes.
QUOTE
``I had been struggling out of the windup,'' he said. ``So I told ``Rags (pitching coach Dave Righetti) that I was going to throw from the stretch more, that I could throw more strikes.''

Lincecum was expected to throw two innings. He worked only the 29-pitch first, giving up two hits and three runs.

The Giants went up 3-0 in the top of the first. In the bottom half, Ichiro Suzuki reached on an error by first baseman Aubrey Huff. Lincecum then walked successive hitters before Ken Griffey Jr. hit a sacrifice fly to right.

Jose Lopez and Casey Kotchman followed with run-scoring singles to right to make it 3-all.

Lincecum said he was a little more ``amped up'' than usual.

Well, looks like that didn't work.

Old friend Charlie Zink is really laboring against the Mets this afternoon. 6 R (4 ER) in 1.2 IP. Still hoping he can make a run for the #5 slot.

And La Russa pulls him.

Make that 7 R, 5 ER charged. Book closed.

From Peter Abraham's blog entry--

UPDATE, 3:17 p.m.:
Remember last September when Price Fielder did that orchestrated "bowling pin" celebration at the plate after homering against the Giants? Barry Zito just drilled him in an exhibition game. Baseball justice takes time but the offended never forget.

Do you think an 80 MPH fastball even hurt him with all that flab?

He had his cup of coffee, that is more than most. ERA of 27 in Spring Training.

Justin Masterson is doing some lovely pitching for the Indians on MLBN. No regrets at all about that trade, but I miss that guy.

[Apologies for opening up the other thread]

1-2-3 first inning -- all harmless grounders on fast balls. 3B, then 2B, then SS. 8 pitches IIRC
