Yeah bummer. Miller is showing class congratulating him though. Svindal looks like the best in the world today. .28 second difference between him and Miller is same as the difference between Miller and 9th place. It'll be a huge upset if any of the rest can beat that time.

How bad was this guy's fall? It's been a long delay, and the radio announcers said he was being airlifted out.

It can be so hard to compare these falls, as so many skiers seem to get up after really scary crashes. On this one, the guy lost his balance in mid air and kind of slammed onto his back when he finally came down. My initial impression was that it was an exciting fall, but I didn't really think he'd be badly hurt. Of course when you see it in slow motion, it doesn't look good...

I'm still watching the feed I linked to above. You gotta download that little plug in, and use IE, but it is working fine and is even better (I assume) if you understand French or Italian.
Edit- Once you are watching it on the plug in, there is a little button on the bottom of their little screen which will run the feed on Windows Media Player at medium screen size where the resolution is good.

It's too bad that I get the sense not many people care, but if amy williams wins this it'll be Britain's first individual Olympic gold medal since Robin Cousins in 1980.

Something's missing here. Rebecca Adlington won a couple of solo golds in 2008 (400m and 800m freestyle), and there have been a bunch of others.
