Happy for the kid who almost lost his leg, Celski...

Short track may be my favorite Olympic event.

Cypress Mountain has to be the worst venue for the winter olympics ever. Looks like shit off the trail, and now fog!

They might as well have held this at King Pine. What terrible conditions. Is it raining at Cypress? Or is that just fog?

They should not have shown that clip of him bleeding all over the ice. That was fucking disturbing.

Both I think.

I wonder how on earth they are going to be able to build the half-pipe there.

Hopefully Kearney wins it though.

Agreed, OilCan. That, and the video of the Georgian luge crash-- WITH sound. Shame on NBC-- don't they know that there are kids watching this stuff? I guess there is a reason they are the fourth place network.

I've been skiing for 24 of my 27 years on earth and can handle pretty much any terrain. And I have no idea how the hell these chicks or flying through these fields so fast.

I took a bump class out in Colorado one year. The lift took us right over a mogul field where some guy was flying down like these women (sans jumps). I said I wished I could ski bumps like that. My instructor said cheerfully, "Skiers like that are born, not made."

That was legit too. The last two skiers brought it. But Kearney was just that much better. ... Which really sucks for Canada because what are they actually expected to win the rest of the way. Are they favorites in hockey?

It occurs to me that perhaps the most remarkable thing about these ladies' skiing this evening is the fact that they are skiing in a giant slurpee. How they manage that in the rain is pretty amazing.

Oh, and: USA! USA! USA!

The men's team is loaded, and the favorite (with Russia and Sweden next) but are under an enormous amount of pressure, particularly in light of their performance at Torino.
