I just downloaded Chrome's AdBlock, and I am generally happy with it. But in some cases, I don't seem to have a choice of keeping an element, for example, like the Chat Link at the top of the front page of Sosh, while erasing the ads. I have looked at the FAQs and Options and don't see an easy answer. (I am able to disable AdBlock entirely for a given site; what I would like is to be able to pick and choose, and have that choice be more or less permanent.)

Here is my adblock plus filter list. Copy/paste into a text file and import. Most of it is built from someone on this board I believe. Then on other sites, you can just right click on the items you want to block, vs. blocking an entire domain

Are you using AdBlock+ Element Hiding Helper.

I think with the Element Hiding Helper extension it should allow you to pick and choose what to keep and get rid of, at least that's how it works in FireFox. I'm not a Chrome user.

Thanks very much. That seems to have been "the missing link," ho ho ho.
To clarify my original post: the ads on Sosh don't particularly bother me. I was just using the combinations of stuff at the top of the Sosh opening page as the kind of situation that I was having trouble with on other sites.

New question for who ever created the main AdBlock filter list from this board.

As of today, adblock is blocking the main story image on ESPN.com. Does anyone know how to unblock that via the filter list, but keep the rest of the ads blocked?
