France down to its final rock. Looks like they're going to have to go right down the middle between two US stones to the button. There'll probably an inch or two of space on each side at most.

Relief! Great play by the whole team and I like the fact that everyone has a say in all the shots. Shuster missed too many huge shots to be a dictator.

Smith has had a good game, and that last shot was excellent, but it's weak the US only had 1 point heading to the 9th. US needs the French to miss the last toss, something the US has been very adroit at this Olympics. I should give up on this team but I can't stop watching.

According to my metric we're only 2 games behind where we should be. [/manila]

THe DuPont sisters are freaky. They are sort of attractive and half muppet. Their mouths are exceptionally large. They may eat your soul.

The more I watch these Danish blondes, the happier in the pants I get. Their goth eye makeup and their outfits, with the red tops and those little black skirts, lend a subtle slutty schoolgirl vibe.

Cheryl Bernard is the polar opposite of John Shuster.

Great win for Canada to move to 4-0.

I was rooting for Mme. Bernard until I saw Camilla throw. In fact looking at the entire group of them, Camilla's big sister included, they looked like the cast of a slightly weird Swedish Erotica clip.

Crap. Shuster back in the lineup vs. Sweden. Throwing third though. Smith still batting cleanup, Plys out. WHY WHY WHY??

Sweden's currently in third overall, and the USA is giving them all they can handle. If one or two of those choke jobs had gone the other way, we might have had a shot at a medal. It's really too bad.

What a lucky-ass break for the US. The Swedes puiled a Shuster and knocked the US rock closer to the button. Two stones left for the good guys, one for the Swedes.

EDIT - And Smith blows a golden opportunity by running his shot past everything.

Shuster, that fucking overbearing loudmouth, overrules Smith on a strategy call for their final stone, and it doesn't work out. Sweden easily gets their hammer on the button to tie it up and send it to extras.

Mother of fuck...

Jason Smith saves the day and the win with a perfect hammer shot, knocking Sweden out of the zone.

Next up: The UK tomorrow at 5 pm EST.

Their final two round-robin matches are both Monday: Canada at noon and China at 10 pm (EST)

The wins earlier today by UK (over China) and Germany (over France) really hurt, as there are now 6 teams with at least 3 wins on the books. The US really needs some help tonight: China to beat Switzerland, France to beat Sweden, and Canada to beat UK.

I'm troubled by the decision to reinsert Shuster. Sure, they won against a good team, whereas the win against France wasn't all that much to be excited about, but as an observer from the outside this team seems to work together better with Plys in there and Shuster not flexing his totalitarian muscle.

She made up for it on their next-to-last stone in the 6th end. Just a great, great shot, especially with GB having the hammer.

Good comeback for the women. Not a great shot by GB with the hammer, ok, we've got a good game.

I didn't know what Curling was before the 2006 Olympics. But I was psyched for it this year because it was so much fun to watch 4 years ago and I've seen most of the US' contests this year, unfortunate as that had been early on.

There's a curling club here in town, which I posted about earlier. Despite my derailed attempt at participating, I've always taken more of an interest in the sport because I've watched competitions there and know quite a few members.
