Is this being broadcasted somewhere online? I've searched this thread and multiple websites (JustinTV) and can't seem to find it.

Are you not in front of a TV, because it's on USA network? If that is obviously, I'm sorry, just wanted to point that out. I don't know if it's available online, online feeds have been very tough to find.

In all seriousness, is it possible for him to start going third and have someone else take the last 2? I know it's a different skill set and all but at this point how can it be any worse? They should be up 6-4 in the 9th end right now.

It is definitely possible. A lot of times the skip and vice are interchangeable in terms of the types of shots they throw.

And I'm aggressive in my strategy, so also would've gone for the shot for four, so I'm not going to fault him for that. Try to end the game right there if you can.

He got one and it needed to be at least two. It wasn't a disaster, but it wasn't great, either. There was no touch to that shot, he just chucked it down the ice.

The US is set up beautifully here - just keep throwing up guards now specifically drop one behind Denmark's stone right on the center line.

Edit: It overcurled just a bit too much. And Denmark capitalizes.

Denmark's last shot is the type of shot you could never expect Shuster to make right now.

Edit - HE HIT A SHOT! Ok, now it's Denmark's chance to blow it. C'mon, miracle.

And Shuster responds - a little roll would've been perfect as to not leave Denmark with the same shot.

Which they make - and another extra end.

I agree with the color guy - just peel everything so that you have a draw to as wide open of a house as possible for hammer - why only have a draw to the four-foot if you can make it so that all you have to do is bite the eight-foot or best yet, just throw it anywhere in the rings.

At least that's how I always play extra ends with hammer.

hell, I have no idea what I'm talking about and that seems obvious to me. I was shocked when they didn't do that yesterday. There's no color guy online though so all we get is the crowd and the teams chatter. It's kind of cool actually.

It seemed like, from what I saw of the other extra ends, they were playing as if they didn't have hammer, just protecting what they had instead of setting things up best for them. The proverbial playing not to lose instead of playing to win.

Because despite the choke job this week, he's still a good curler. He got by a number of talented teams, including his old team, former Olympic bronze medalists, just to get to this point.

Plus, although they have clearly played worse than expected, the US team wasn't considered medal favorites by any stretch of the imagination.

I figure this is just like his Byung-Hyun Kim moments in the 2001 World Series (edit: Johnmd beat me to the analogy). He'll rebound.

His Wikipedia entry:

QUOTE
In a side note, in 2008 Shuster attempted to commit suicide. Unsurprisingly to those who know him and have watched him play, he failed at the attempt; Shuster used a gun and once again completely messed up the shot.

Shuster has come to be known as the biggest choke artist of the 2010 Winter Olympics, and is the lone reason the USA curling team has not won a single game this Olympics.

Upon John's pathetic performance at the 2010 games, he has decided to retire from the sport. And an hero.

Shuster said he draws inspiration from Bill Buckner, Brad Lidge, Scott Norwood, and the city of Cleveland.

He currently works as a quality control specialist for Toyota.

Actually they all haven't played fine. Benton has played the best of all of them, but it's usually easier for a lead to have a higher percentage, and Smith has played okay, but Isaacson has had a really poor tournament so far as well. Coming into the Denmark game he was dead last in percentage amongst seconds.

If the rest of the team had been playing truly well, Shuster's job at the end of ends would be throwing up guards or having draws to score a 3rd or 4th point instead of making a draw to the button for just one.
