Think Sanchez shit himself after the Colts pulled their logo out of their asses a few hours ago? He probably should have, because this Pats team is not going to be in a very good mood.

Mark my words, the Pats reclaim the Superbowl this Sunday.

Thanks Ed for starting the game thread.

Best way to wash down a gut-punching loss is with a satisfying win against the gut-punched bunch in the Jets. I watched the entire Jags-Jets game and it truly was a battle of the suck.

Few key points:

* Jenkins has been solely, solely missed. Jags run it right down the middle until the fourth quarter.
* Kerry Rhodes has been the unspoken liability - doesn't look the same
* Jones is still a danger, but without Washington he's wearing down late in the game
* Sanchez is no longer the "Sanchize", and the Jets game plan has been altered to leave little in his hands. He missed several easy targets and sometimes comically so. It especially hurts on 3rd downs.
* Keller is the biggest danger, like Clark. If McGowan can play man-up then Braylon "Soap Hands" Edwards will be the only viable target

In a lot of ways, this is a great time to have the Jets team come in. It's at Gillette, both teams coming off losses, and the game being what it is could mean Pats turn their collective heads towards Sunday faster.

As much as the loss hurt, a divisional win puts Pats in the driver's seat for AFCE title at 7-3, and I had given Pats better chance at NO than at Indy.

Redeem it all upon Sanchez's head.

The Colts game is lost. It's over. Move on and take the next step to 13-3. I'll take a #2 seed any day. This team can beat anyone and would have a chance to losing very few when it comes to playoff time. I'll take that.

Stick with the offensive gameplan that worked early against the Colts: Run between the tackles early to set up play-action deep routes later. This Jets defense seems ripe for the picking.

Defensively, use the speed of your secondary and inside linebackers to bring pressure on Sanchez from unexpected places. Lots of unusual looks to confuse him.

PLAY 60 MINUTES, BOYS!

Jabba the Coach is using a new, last-ditch motivational technique: sharing his feelings:

He also fired the d-line coach.

I'll give him credit. He might be able to squeeze one more good effort out of the Jets.

As much as BB's coaching during the last few drives weirded me out Sunday night, it isn't in the same zipcode as Ryan's instability.

So, has Sexy Ryan's schtick jump the shark? At this point it has to be considered a schtick, right?

Just imagine this. In the best case scenario Jets "win one for the Rexy" and pulls a miracle in Foxborough. But the most likely scenario - and perhaps the worst scenario - is that Jets get blown out by a pissed off Pats team that may or may not want to stick one to BB as well as the Jets.

What does RR do next on a "big" game? There'll be nothing left to do but disembowel himself.

Now, Peyton Manning may make irritating commercials, and then there's the whole Mayflower thing.

The Yankees may spend half the US defense budget on their team, and be the baseball team of choice for people who don't really like baseball.

The Lakers may... ok, well the Lakers get close.

But I don't think there's a team in pro sports i despise as much as these coach-stealing, woman-harrassing, spygate-overblowing, injury-celebrating, September-superbowl winning bunch of fucktards from Jersey. Please, New England. For the love of God, give them the shoeing to end all shoeings.

Rex is laughing it up in his press conference. "Let me read my statement... I hear New England is pretty good, any questions?"
The whole room of reporters exploded into laughter. You'd think they were 8-1 about to face the Browns.

I think the Pats win this game but I'm curious to see how/if the line play improves from the 1st matchup. The biggest difference maker for me though is that Welker is back and Brady is a more comfortable QB at this point in the season.

Between Belichick's embarrassing performance last week, and the defense lying down like heartless disgusting pukes, I have zero faith in this team to win any further games this season, or for their entire remaining existence.

I'm glad that this game immediately follows the Colts fiasco. Nothing makes you forget about other teams like an irrational hatred for a team and its fans. I hope Flirty Sanchez gets hit so hard he cries on the sidelines. i hope Rex is there to hold him and console him as they cry together. I hope Bart Scott has a Joey Porter game in which he gets shut out of the stats column. If ever there were a time for a severe beat down this is it. I can smell the blood in the water all the way from Florida. I trust the Patriots can as well.

Don't just win baby. Beat the piss out of them.

What did Revis say? I had a look at Reiss's Twitter. I'm guessing that Reiss said something about Revis getting help against Randy Moss in the previous game, and Revis told him he was dumb, or something like that.

Mike Reiss: I was just hoping you could just clear up one thing. Just going back to the first meeting between the teams, you talked about being in man coverage all game against Moss. Is it possible to be in man coverage and have safety help over the top to allow you to play more aggressively in man coverage?

Revis: Say that again.

Mike Reiss: Oh, man, I was hoping you wouldn't say that. When you were in that first game against Moss, you talked about playing man coverage the whole game.

Revis: Right.

Mike Reiss: Is it possible to have safety help over the top, while you're playing man coverage, so it sort of allows you to be more aggressive when you have the safety help rolled over the top?

Revis: Do you know football?

That was the gist of it. Reiss asked Revis about man to man coverage with safety help and Revis snidely responded, "Do you know football?" Revis said a few more things in a condescending manner toward Reiss.

Just based on those excerpts and the way Reiss worded it, I'm wondering if Revis did indeed have safety help over the top in the first game. Maybe Reiss was trying to kind of give him some slack rather than call him right out for saying he was in man coverage on Moss when he wasn't? Can anyone check that?

Reiss was professional as always. The transcript doesn't do it justice. He asked him the question 3 different ways and Revis kept saying, do you even know football, etc. Revis was an ass. Gasper even tried to step in and help Reiss at one point.

This article claims that Revis received some help, despite Revis going on and on about shutting down Moss solo during the first game.

This is more anecdotal than anything, but we've always heard about BB taking away (or at least attempting to) the opponents #1 option. It also seems like, in cases where someone talks a little smack before the game, that they make a point of going after that person in some way.

The cases that stick out to me are Anthony Smith (?), the DB of the Steelers a few years back and Brady destroying him and even getting in his face at one point after a TD pass and Joey Porter, a few weeks back, who they blanked. With Revis talking a bit, and Bart Scott talking after last game, it'll be interesting to see what happens.

And as I was typing this I recalled Burress making the comment about the Pats only scoring 17 points in the Super Bowl...but that seemed more good-natured talk than anything else.

Begging your permission to disagree just a little, I do believe that the hatred is quite rational indeed. I'm 1600 miles or so away from Boston these days, and I feel perfectly reasonable in reaching a rational conclusion that we are playing a team mostly consisting of d-bags supported by fans who are predominantly (with notable exceptions such as one prominent SoSH member's son-in-law and new father as of a few days ago) d-bags. ...and in another small variance with your view, I believe that nothing makes you forget about other teams like the competent play of your own team. So, whether the hatred is rational or irrational, or whether we forget last Sunday night by one avenue or another, let's have a thoroughly enjoyable Sunday afternoon. May there be crying in football...in the opposing coach's post-game meeting with his players and in his press conference.

I'm pretty sure Reiss was bringing some Belichickian sarcasm in his questioning of Revis, regardless of the intonation of his voice. This is from PFT:

QUOTE
Earlier today, we posted the insights of a scout who reviewed tape of the Week Two game between the Jets and Patriots. Contrary to the assertion by New York cornerback Darrelle Revis that he handled New England receiver Randy Moss on his own, our source concluded that Revis had help throughout the game, and that Moss was subject to full-blown double coverage on seven of 77 offensive plays.

The question appeared to be Reiss' way of calling Revis out. It also makes Revis' response even funnier.
