We're tying the series to, tomorrow night. Prove to the Phillies that we're serious about this, and we can beat them up like a bully on a fat nerd. No crap. No more losing. Go into Philly with the series tied, 1-1. There are no excuses. Rape Pedro like Smoltz and Penny. We're winning this game, got it, Yankees? No pathetic display like you had against Lee. No more pitching to Chase Utley.

Game two in New York
Was a Huge Massive Blowout
As the Yankees Won

WIN. WIN. WIN. WIN.

It's funny because I think the Smart Dope tries really hard and is heart is in the right place, but he always seems to fuck things up or piss someone off or both.

From a Sox fan's perspective, this is the money game of the series. On paper, you like the Yankees chances against the ghost of Pedro but then again, if anyone can bluff and fool his way through six innings against NY, its Pedro J Martinez. If only he could channel his performance from September 10, 1999 against the Yankees.

To be fair, everyone knows the gamethreads rules. Everyone. If you haven't figured out the system, you shouldn't be starting one.

I DOUBLY hope the Yankees lose now, because I want to see Jon Abbey murder TSD.

I could see Pedro and AJ both out of the game by the 5th with the score something like 5-4, but damn it would be hysterical to see Pedro just go out and put up zeroes.

The reaction of Yankees Universe would be similar to the guy who's head exploded when he saw that Clayton Bigsby was black.

With tonight's masterful job, I truly do think that you should mix it up a little, no? Go against the usual. It's worked in the past in other parts of SoSH. If it works, why not? If it doesn't, next poster.

It might be about me, but, that's fantastically funny.

Who is next in line, anyway? Is it truly too much to ask for a postseason gamethread starter rotation thread (now, or sometime before when the playoffs start next year, if the Yankees make it)? If there's at least that to go by, I would not have started this thread. That benefits everyone, especially you, Jon.

The real question, however, is do you realize that you suck to the degree that you do?

Edit: I ask in the interest of science (or Reverend). Take no offense.

Girardi would never do this, but Hairston in RF instead of Swisher in Game 2 might not be a bad idea. Hairston has had pretty good success in his career vs Pedro and Swisher is giving them nothing at this point.

When were those ABs, though? I could certainly see Girardi benching Swisher for a game, but I think Hinske or Gardner would get the start against the righty.

I would be curious to see what Hinske's numbers off Pedro are. Hinske hits some good pitchers really really well.

Annnnnnyway, I am not stressed yet, obviously losing stinks, but this is a long series and I expect it to go 6 or 7 anyway.

But if the Yankees lose Game 2, I might start looking for a ledge to stand on.

Hairston last faced Pedro in 2004, so I think his numbers have be considered differently than if they took place say, this season. Pedro's 2009 was outstanding, and I think he's greatly improved his ability to mix up speeds and fool hitters. It could go either way for Petey, but I'm pulling for 7 IP, 3 R or less. I think there will be a ton of pressure on Burnett to rise up.

By right, Jon Abbey should've started game 2's thread. Per Wingack's season opener thread

QUOTE
It's past 12pm so I am getting this thread going. Everyone needs to remember the way the Yankee game threads work. If the Yankees lose, the thread starter gets to start the thread the next day. If the Yankees win, there needs to be a new thread starter. However, if it is one hour or less before the game starts and there is no thread started yet anyone can start a thread.

You guys have been fucking this up for a while. Hopefully the MFY continue that trend and Pedro parties like his arm feels 1999.

I live in Delaware and am surrounded by diehard Phils fans and media that won't shut up about the series. I can't believe the number of Philly fans (and media a-holes) calling for Manuel's head on this decision. They want Joe f-ing Blanton to pitch in this game over Pedro J. Martinez. JOE BLANTON!!!! Pedro J. Martinez is one of the 5 best pitchers of all time. Joe Blanton has one of the 5 biggest heads of all time (really, his head is enormous). Is Pedro so fragile that he will be emotionally rattled by the big, meanie Yankee fans who will yell and call him names? I think not. I know what this man can do. Not what he COULD do, but what he can do. This is Pedro J. Martinez.

All this said, I will not be surpried if AJ steps up tonight and shuts up the haters. If he has location, he can be unhittable. Yanks need to throw Gardner in for Swish, bat him 9th and hope he gets on for Jeter, who is still swinging the bat.

But go Phils (mostly to see the bloodbath of Jon Abbey v. the dude who started this thread).

I had a dream last night where I got home from the barber shop, looked in the mirror and had a modified mohawk something like Swisher's. No idea where that came from. Burnett has a nipple ring (somebody else upstream said)?

Pedro is more of a Magneto type.

Calm, collected, and incredibly powerful. He does bad things but always kind of sort of means well.
