Gotta say I'm shocked that playoff Joe "Quick Hook" Torre let this happen.

That was some sort of implosion. It really did remind me a tad bit of Ankiel.

L.A. sun went to his head. He's "chill" now. That or the ganja he's smoking over there.

Did Torre fall asleep mid-inning? That was painful to watch, and completely predictable.

It was. Everyone here called it. We all knew Howard was gonna ruin Kershaw and he did. Fucking idiotic. You have an AWESOME PEN. It hasn't pitched in FOREVER.

USE IT.

And the strangest thing is that Torre usually does the opposite. Maybe just in the AL, though.

Maybe he only does it when his pen sucks.

This is it for the Dodgers. If they don't make it up now, it'll take until the 8th or 9th inning against Lidge. Not that Lidge hasn't imploded himself this season, but hey, they're used to Hamels' pitches.

EDIT: OK Manny, see if you have any of that old magic left.

Is Manny's walk- up music really "Mr. Brightside"? That is kind of awesome.

and now we see the power of positive thinking...

Changeup was brutal too. God how I miss him, and yet hate him so much.

Bay can't hit change ups for HRs unless they're floating around his numbers.

That really isn't fair. We can't expect Bay to do what Manny can do. Manny is one of the greatest hitters to ever play baseball. Bay is a very good hitter, but thats it

Remember when we had offensive threats like that?
But oh no! He threw an old man down! Oh no, he hit Kevin "I bitch and cry about every strike and am a full head of hair away from being Paul O'Neill" Youkilis. He quit on us every year around the all star break, then would come back and tear the shit out of the ball.
I hope the Dodgers win it all this year.

I know this. I don't expect Bay to put up Manny-like numbers or ABs for even that matter. I was just opining exactly your thoughts: that only a hitter of HOF caliber can hit changeups that good for HRs. Bay is good, just not THAT good.

And still, as much as I miss Manny, I'm glad we have Jason Bay. At least he doesn't dog it on the field. When Papi votes you off the team, you know you're a shithead.

If I had a vote Big Papi would be back in the Dominican right now and Manny would be the Sox DH... David is a baseball player that doesn't field, can't run the bases (dude can't even slide), and can't get around on the heat anymore. He was magic for a few years, no doubt about it. The truth is David Ortiz not only doesn't belong on the same page with Manny, he isn't even in the same chapter.

Manny DH would be fine by me. You're right, Papi is over the hill. But I think character has to have some place even in MLB. That's one thing Papi has that Manny never did. At least when he hurt his wrist, he knew which one was injured.
