Seriously? Do you remember what life was like as a Sox fan prior to the new regime? Were you sleeping through 2004 and 2007? He's a pretty damn good GM.

Kazmir can be good, but he can also be bad, It's silly to think that he is or ever was somehow magically good at Fenway. The idea that he "owns" the Red Sox -- or that the Red Sox "own" the Angels in the postseason, for that matter -- is based on too small a sample. Such claims are silly and obviously not predictive.

Read up thread. He was trying to make a Adenhart reference (something to rally behind).

Lowell at DH
Youkilis at 3b
Victor at 1b
Varitek at C
Gets the "Captain" into a game...batting right-handed (splits: vs. LHP - .202/.306/.360/.666; vs. RHP - .231/.336/.471/.807), gets Papi out, keeps Lowell's bat in there, but moves his unable-to-get-any-range body out of the defensive alignment.
I'd expect a lineup like this:
CF Ellsbury
2b Pedroia
1b Martinez
3b Youkilis
LF Bay
DH Lowell
RF Drew
C Varitek
SS Gonzalez
Given Clay's GB tendencies, I'd rather see Kotchman at 1B, Youk at 3B Lowell at DH and Vmart behind the plate since he has caught the majority of Clay's starts.
Kotchman vs. Tek is pretty close to a wash at the plate and the defensive improvement should easily make up the difference.

Wow, I totally missed it. I laughed, though. My bad.

I'd be shocked if Varitek caught Clay tomorrow night. Victor has been his personal catcher since he arrived. I think there's a decent chance Kotchman plays 1st and Lowell is the DH. Ortiz not starting an elimination game would be like Schilling not getting a start in the 05 ALDS.

How about a right fielder who starts against lefties? I've been told Drew can do that.
If Drew is on the bench because Tito has no faith he will be better than Brian Anderson (BRIAN ANDERSON FER CRISSAKES!!!), then I either want someone to read Tito the riot act or I want Drew gone. Him sitting in this most important game of the year would be utterly unacceptable.

I believe he was talking about benching Ortiz in favor of Baldelli. Which I would be in favor of with Ortiz's sudden reversal to April/May levels; however Anderson should not see the field.
