Neither were hit particularly hard. Lester doesn't look pained either...so I guess thats good news.

I hope so. I've had the shittiest week ever (family crisis) and the Sox shitty play made it shittier. I need a win tonight. Desperately.

5 FOs. At least 3 (the ones I saw), to the warning track.

I don't either. Lester not sharp early on, but we are lucky he gets a practice start before going into the playoffs. Those last 2 were homers in the toilet.

I think it would be erudite drivel, but probably too salty for family consumption. Tito gives some pretty good dugout interviews, but you can tell that he's watching his tongue (except when Ortiz clowns behind him and Tito threatens to kick his ass).

In a meaningful game, an out is always better than a hit. But when youre just practicing, Id rather him not get hit hard, even at the expense of a few groundball singles. Hopefully he settles in after getting his feet under him.

Tito with all that gum in his mouth would be incomrehendable.
Lester is getting the outs... but the pitches look a little lifeless to me. Hopefully he's just not completely warmed up (we've seen that before).

At 94-95, his velocity looks OK, but he's getting a lot of pitches up in the zone and his fastballs seem to have unpredictable movement (ie, all over the chart).
He's throwing a lot of changeups too.

That is the best reason I have read in months. What about the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award?
I've got nothing against Gathright making it on the bench, but this is just yet another egregious example of Nick Cafardo's failure to even hold up the pretense of being a journalist.
Jason Varitek? Reaching base? In the play-offs?
Edit: He also isn't ruling out the Twins, simply beacuse "they have a lot of heart."
Why waste a space with Gathright? We have Buchholz - a two for oner!
I think everything and anything is wide open through this series. Let's go nuclear!
What's that? Please explain.

Lowell fouled one off his foot...but he seemed fine after a couple minutes.

And I think so far he is erring on the side of going right after people and inducing contact--and that's exactly what he should be doing, at least until it gets him in trouble.

Most of the FBs I checked on the nesn gun were listed 92-93 till later last inning when one said 96.

Nuts. I had been hoping I was reading the pitching chart wrongly on account of small sample size.

No. Why? I think he's only the first Navajo, there have been other Native American ball players.
As a reminder, Joba Chamberlain is considered Native America(Winnebago).

Especially, when playing a team with Chief Wahoo on their hats. Maybe I'm just overly sensitive to the plight of Native Americans though.

Ells isn't the first Native American, he's the first Navajo. And it was the honkeys who did all the stealing. It's nice to see him steal in America's Pastime®.

Yeah, as long as he's healthy and his velocity is fine, I see no reason not to be encourged.
