My goal for this game: be interesting enough to keep me from watching The National Parks. (After all, the latter comes on again and again all night and the Sox game is sorta live.)

Just a reminder for everyone - The Bruins open their season tonight. Why watch the Red Sox stumble to the post season when you can watch a Stanley Cup favorite begin their season against Alex and the Ovechkins?

If the Patriots were in the SuperBoel, the Celts in the 7th game of the Finals, the Bruins were in the 7th game of the Stanley Cup Finals, and the Sox were playing BC in Fort Myers I'd be watching the Sox game.

And Reggie Jackson's three HR game in the 1977 World Series on YES! That network's lousy with all repetitive things Yankee, for some reason.

Well, there aren't really any ALCS highlights of Reggie they can show:

ALCS career: .227/.298/.380/.679
WS career: .357/.457/.755/1.212

I feel bad for all you hometown folks always having the 7:10PM start, out here on the west coast the game is usually over before primetime. Though my wife would never ask me to not watch a Red Sox game no matter what else was on as long as I recorded her shows.

So to get down to serious business.

WIN!

A few weeks is nothing, just crack a window.

After a few months, take them out on the lawn and get them with a hose. But in the long run, your best solution is paper or plastic.

He makes perfect sense as a pinch runner extraordinaire (especially given the glacial landmasses that occupy this team's roster) and as a defensive replacement for Bay in LF late in the game.

I hope my concerns about Lester are cancelled out tonight by a strong 5 or 6 innings. All indications from Lester and the team are that he's fine... I just want to see it with my own eyes.
It also would be nice to see the offense look alive early in the game.
I only want to be flipping over to National Parks because the Sox are up by 8 and Lester's night is complete.

Nick Cafardo just suggested that Gathright should make the play-off roster because he could be used to pinch run for Jason Varitek.

I've got nothing against Gathright making it on the bench, but this is just yet another egregious example of Nick Cafardo's failure to even hold up the pretense of being a journalist.

Jason Varitek? Reaching base? In the play-offs?

Edit: He also isn't ruling out the Twins, simply beacuse "they have a lot of heart."

Perhaps he envisioned a scenario in which Varitek is put in as a pinch runner for someone by accident, and then Gathright replaces him.

Wait a minute here, if we can get a catcher to pitch, maybe we could get a catcher to hit.
We should've had Varitek pitch last night then tonight he would be unavailable for a couple days.

I bet Nick's going to be stunned when he doesn't see Varitek in the starting lineup for game 1 of the ALDS. Now that I think of it, I bet he's really going to be shocked when he finds out Beckett won't be the starting pitcher for game 1 and that Wakefield didn't even make the roster.
