So how is he in games that do matter?
In last year's playoffs the Red Sox faced two lefty starters three times- Saunders once with the Angels and Kazmir twice with Tampa. Drew didn't start two of those games.
In '07 The Sox again faced two lefties three times- CC twice against Cleveland and Jeff Francis against the Rockies. Drew didn't start either game Sabathia pitched- including game five. A game where their playoff run could have ended and you can't have your big money right fielder in the game.
Whether he can't hit lefties, or Tito and co. don't have faith he can hit lefties, the fact of the matter is that he doesn't play against lefties. And like I said, I have a hard time swallowing that with a starting right fielder earning $14 million.
Hey Bud,
I'm with you...I think he makes too much for what he gives us...but we do have the $, and we did give him the $. I think there's a better way to look at this. Tito manages however he needs to to win in the playoffs. If he thinks Drew is "weaker" against strong lefties (like the kind that show up in the playoffs) then he won't play him there and needs to get those that will play at bats. That may be what he's doing instead of "resting". Either way I don't disagree with it all that much.

Oh, and I'd say Drew earned his money in the 2007 playoffs.
So you're okay with you starting right fielder sitting two games in a best of five series against the Angels, which it seems he might very well do if the past post seasons are any judge?
I don't know whether its management, reality, or Drew himself. Nobody here does. But it is going to kill the Sox in the playoffs if he continues to ride pine against left handed pitchers. Which two of the three teams they might face (Angles and Yankees) have two of each. And it would be nice if he was in there in a day like today so he can get some AB against one to help get ready.
Okay, this is a game thread, so I'll stop now.

Why is it going to kill the team? If Rocco Baldelli is at least as good as Drew against lefties, why should Drew play against them?

I use that site regularly... Alex is in Vegas until Sunday. There's no link to watch any games. Therefore, it's not a useful link today. For the record, it's also dominated by Yankee fans, at the Yankees streams.
EDIT: Ah, thanks, 75. My computer is so far away from my TVs that it's easier to stream that way. Much appreciated.

Drew sat once and started once versus Kazmir in last year's ALCS. He sat versus Saunders last year in the ALDS. The OF was Bay-Crisp-Ellsbury.
He sat, in lieu of Bobb Kielty, both times against Sabathia in 2007.

I don't understand the Drew makes too much shit, and then people want to give Bay $15M a year. Drew is a better player than Bay. He's only a little worse offensively, and is 20 runs better defensively.

Insufferable is the word I was trying to think of earlier, both Buck and Carey. BTW, TBS has the ALDS and the ALCS again, don't they?

Because Bay looks like he's playing hard.
Why is Bay sitting?

They have the ALDS, but, FOX has the ALCS. I'd perfer TBS, because, they actually care. This is like being Mike Scioscia a few years ago, picking your poison between Ortiz and Manny, expect with the evils of FOX/TBS.
