Yeah, that was pointed out to me in a PM. A bit more apt. That or front-butt. Gunt implies there's a bit of a gut rather than a touch of puffiness. Carry on.

I prefer the term frass myself.
I do agree that we won't likely sweep this series. Paul Byrd does not beat that lineup.

What is a 'Dutch Fugue'? I googled it but all I could find was a broken page about some guy who spazzed out and killed everyone around him in 1870? Never heard anyone say that before.

Or you could look at the second link

Did you try the SECOND link google came up with?

Sure but I didn't believe it. Cool Hand Mccabe in the Great Outdoor Fight of 1877 sounded a little made up, and it was on urban dictionary.

The love child of Oprah and Simon Cowell, actually.

"The Force" is made up, too. And, yet, you see people referring to it in this very thread. It almost seems as if one can freely refer to fictitious events with metaphor.
Oh, and, Let's Go Lestah!

If Joba's going to drill guys that hit him well, he may not get through the Sox lineup more than once:
Jason Bay = 4-7, 1 HR
Mike Lowell = 7-15, 1 HR
Pedroia = 8-15, 1 HR
Victor Martinez = 3-6, 1 HR
FWIW: Youkilis is 2-7 but with 7 BB's against JtC.
The name Fisty McPumperson demands more attention than it has gotten.

Lineup: Ellsbury, Pedroia, Martinez, Youkilis, Ortiz, Bay, Drew, Varitek, Gonzalez. Lester. #redsox
#Yankees lineup: Jeter, Damon, Teixeira, Rodriguez, Matsui, Posada, Cano, Swisher, Cabrera. Chamberlain.
Fun fact: Varitek's batting average since the All Star break (.132) is actually lower than Chamberlain's blood alcohol level at the time of his last arrest (.134).
By "last," of course, I mean "most recent," certainly not "final."

Yes it does, I can't get it out of my head. Well done TW.

I've always called it the FUPA (Fat Upper Pussy Area).
Six one way, half a dozen the other.
Beat Joba's face in and...
WIN.

A screaming liner back through the box would be OK too. If anything happens to get in the way ...oh well.

The Tigers could actually steal that series.

A down and dirty glance says that Pettitte is markedly better away from the Bidet, and that Burnett is noticably better at home there. Or are they taking into consideration Andy's previous playoff experience and being able to have him pitch games 2 + 5 in that "longer" series? (No idea the schedule).

A screaming liner OR a bomb by Tek might give Tito crazy ideas about playing him when the games start to count again.
I hate Joba as much as the next guy but let's keep our eyes on the prize, people.

Fighting words
I don't want any of the Sox hurt or suspended - each is too critical right now - but I would really love a knock down drag out ass-kicking tonight. Instead - drive Joba out early, guys, and humiliate the rest of the idiots, Jon. No pies for you, Yanks - or champagne either - what a letdown.
GO SOX - WIN TODAY!

I would have to think that they want him for 2 & 5, as the splits would seem to lead to the exact opposite in games 2 & 3(Burnett, then Pettitte).

Exactly. Not sure what the MFY FO is thinking if they go with Pettitte #2 and Burnett #3.
#131
Posted 25 September 2009 - 05:02 PM
What they must be thinking is that they're more comfortable with Pettitte starting a Game 5, splits be damned.
#132
Posted 25 September 2009 - 05:05 PM
I'd bet two things:
1) Pettitte throws games 2 and 5 in the stadium, by virtue of the fact that he is a lefty
2) Burnett scares the ever-loving crap out of them, and probably think Pettitte's lower blowup factor outweighs Burnett's higher likelihood of throwing a gem.
edit: If 2 isn't clear, I meant Burnett is more likely than Pettitte to throw a gem if each were to have a good day, but Burnett's bad days are usually much worse than Pettitte's, who could still get you 5 or 6 innings even if he is shaky.

True, and can't say I disagree with you. I'm still waiting for Burnett to get injured this season.

8. Our number eight hitter clears the infield on the fly tonight.
To wit:
In Captain Inhitables' last 29 trips to the plate (dating to September 7), the ball has left the infield in the air exactly twice.
Two of his three hits have been grounded through the infield, but he's managed one flyball out to right.
13 AL hitters have lower post-ASB averages, but Tek has 47 more ABs than the worst of them.
(If you guessed that's KFK (.145/.261/.276), you win a date with Geneva Carr, the Rollover Minutes Mom from the AT&T commercials.
If Jason gets the ball out of the infield tonight, I'd recommend going long on survival rations.
