I'd think it would be pretty easy to DL him and save face. Besides his suckage, he isn't physically right. If he isn't going to see the light of day anyway, why not have a healthy player on the bench in case of emergency?

CC's pretty much dominated us this year
iirc CC has a history of sucking in colder weather and we ran into him twice in August.

Well, it'll be cool tomorrow - only about 67, and breezy. Bring on some October chill.
PLUS, he's not as good in day game - about 1.5 worse in ERA, his k/bb ratio goes from 5.0 to 1.6., and his OPS against goes from .608 to .713. I choose let's win.

Just announce he's hurt(which it seem he is).
they went through this crap with Lowell last year.
Well, the October stuff was probably a function of him throwing like 240+ innings the year before. Maybe it catches up with him in October, mebbe it doesn't.

He is the worst player in baseball and there's really no denying it. Tito, Theo and co. are well aware of this and such a move would be wise IMO.

Agreed. I've watched it several times in slow motion and it seems it hit him on the bone. It bounced far away, which seems to be consistent with hitting off the bone. I think he's pitched his last game until the playoffs.

Also, can we hire a hit on Jason Varitek? To continue to put him in the lineup is, quite frankly, embarrassing.

His last couple of Aprils/Mays have been rough too.

It did hit his knee, according to Lester. Not really sure how he ended up with a quad contusion, but I'm no doctor.

Well, that's when those innings the year before catch up with you sometimes. See Also: Lester this year.
I hope I don't see Tek in another game this year. Any games where Martinez isn't catching should be spent getting whoever is gonna be the backup (Kottaras, Brown) ready and in synch with the pitching staff.

Mostly hearsay, but my understanding was that it's a pattern that has been pretty consistent for most of his career. Can't swear to it because I haven't checked and frankly it's almost midnight.

Zero point zero is just my tribute to Animal House, which is especially fitting since we got beat by Flounder tonight.
If he admits an injury, then it is a possibility. But there is no way in hell that they're going to leave the Captain off of the post-season roster just because he sucks. I would bet that the 25th man isn't important enough, in their eyes, to humiliate him.
EDIT--I don't, however, think he'll start a game in the post-season.

Eh. Never mind. Baseball cube paints a different picture before 07, but whatever. Kick his ass anyway.

First one can be batted ball off of Joba first pitch top of the 4th
You pissed off the baseball gods man, hopefully we do not get cursed and Lester recovers. This is not the first post here where some have wished for an injury for celebrated an injury news report, so you are not alone.
Lester sucked tonight and would have been pulled soon anyways, his pitch count was way up there.
If the Red Sox are popping champagne on a day they get swept by the MFY at the toilet, that will be disappointing (can Youk drink on Yom Kippur day? Before sundown should be ok, maybe thats why they moved up the starting time.) I could see it if it was the first time we won the WC, but the WC has become like a bad habit, so addictive we make only a feeble attempt to win the division (eg. removing 70% of your team in the 8th when you are behind by 4). Not that I am not happy to be going to the playoffs since it beats not going.
I had to watch the game on a My 9 feed in Taiwan. Michael Kay and Leiter were talking about how the Red Sox were planning on a bash after clinching the WC, especially since the WC is old hat to the Red Sox, maybe the KCR could justify it, but the Red Sox, and on the road at the toilet (my words, their meaning)?. But more important to them was that the division was not out of reach, especially with a Red Sox sweep. The message this sends to the team is that the season is over, and it's ST mode, the Rangers have no hope, and have not for quite some time given no H2H games and having lost Hamilton and Young .
This is how Lester seemed to pitch, like ST. No effort to hold the runners by looking over, no throwing over, etc, just get the ball and throw the ball and get his work in. Most of the SB were on breaking balls or balls in the dirt. Pedroia and A-Gon made no effort to hold A-Rod at 2nd. This is called defensive indifference on their part.
The quad runs to the knee. The X-ray ruled out fracture, which is good. However, it won't pick up a bone bruise, and they can be slow to heal. There was not a lot of meat to cushion the blow where he was hit and the way he walked down the stairs, not being able to put weight on it, did not look good. However, he is a young guy, and may heal fast.

I can confirm that Tito said Oki was sent back to Boston. A "right side" problem, I think is what Tito said (sorry, gone from the TiVo already).

Confirmed. Soreness in his side. Gone back for accupuncture. Tito said that he wasn't going to pitch this weekend anyway.

Well, he's definitely had a right side problem this year. OPS against:
RHB:887
LHB:472
Seriously, hope the guy is ok.
