Any inning where we don't score at least three runs off of Baltimore pitching feels like such a squander.

Kinda crazy, Berken has given up 6 hits and 2 walks. DiceK has given up 2 hit and no walk.

And yet, through 2, they both have 40 pitches for 27 strikes.

It's the Os fouling off a lot of good pitches, actually. Like 10 in the first inning were to one guy. If they lose a little focus, he could stretch it out a bit.

Guys, Dice has only thrown 40 pitches through 2, 27 for strikes. That is, if Yahoo is correct.

EDIT: Drat, beaten to it.

Game-day just had Ellsbury hit a GR 2B to left center. Assuming the ball didn't bounce over the monster, what was that really?

Constant for each batter across multiple at-bats so far: something definitely changed compared to 3 games ago.

He's thrown two different changeups so far today -- the first one a straight change at 87; then a 3-finger screw-change at 81. Both were well within the strike zone too. DiceK is challenging hitters today.

They arn't in Fenway.

I admit though, an auto-double over the monster would be impressive. They should ground-rule that to a home run, just in case it happens.

The thing about being an Os fan that must just kill isn't just that your team sucks. It isn't just that to ever contend you have to over come the Yankees and the Red Sox. It's walking into your gorgeous home park and being outnumbered by the opposing fans 4-1.

I got this message from my favorite O's fan this morning:

I hate the situation that allows red sox fans to come here and take over our park. That’s Angelo's fault. Not the fans who take advantage of it. My daughter wanted to go to one last game this year. I look at the schedule, and even though this sox series was the most convenient, I don’t even consider it. The humiliation is too much too bear.

Funny when I think back at the threads commenting on the re-acquisition of A-GON. The Stat watchers were claiming his skills were diminished and he's just an average defensive player now.

In other news we have a smooth and flashy middle infield.

I don't know if there's some advanced stat that counts for double plays completed vs. muffed, but the shift from Lugo to Gonzalez must be among the most radical improvements ever.
