Win it for Alice:

Poor girl. All she wanted to do was enter a dance marathon, get some attention from a Hollywood producer, get some movie work and perhaps become famous. Then after two months of solid dancing, some asshole steals all your stuff, leaves you destitute, and the nicest sailor in the history dies in your lap. Its enough to turn anyone crazy and make them shower in a ball gown.

This division race is not quite over.
Would you prefer a nice easy coast to the WC with Tito able to rest players and maybe skip Lester once, or a mad dash to the finish line with the Sox going all out just to try and catch NY?
I'm on the fence.

I'm on the fence.
If we sweep the Yankees, maybe the mad dash approach will be justified. Otherwise I can't see how it makes sense.

I'm on the fence.
I'm not.
Five in the loss column with fifteen left to play? It's pretty unlikely that the Sox will catch them. Regardless, the NY series next weekend will probably settle the dilemma one way or another.

Yeah, I'm thinking the same. You don't start resting people until you see what happens in the series against NY. If we sweep, (and haven't given back a couple of games in the loss column before then) it's probably worth pushing for home field advantage, which is a big deal with this team. If we don't sweep or if we enter that series 5 or 6 back in the loss column, just coast to the playoffs and get people rested up.

This has been discussed frequently and is not complicated. The Wild Card team will NEVER have home field advantage while playing another team in their league. The W-L record does NOT matter.

No wild card never gets home field

Oops, sorry. Thanks for the correction. Doesn't seem right, though, that with a better record than both LAA and DET we wouldn't have home field advantage because we are playing in a stronger division.

Yeah, what was with that? He could hardly get his words out.
I agree, but Bud Selig likes to do things arbitrarily.

Excellent use of the double negative. I bet Sox can get home field if they win the ALCS.
