All you know is that, come October, you are certainly going to be facing the Sox again - and it won't be Paul Byrd on the hill. It can't feel good. It has to sting a little and, frankly, if it wasn't the Sox involved, I might feel sorry for you. But I don't.
Sweep these fuckers. Put the fear of Josh into them.
Break their hearts.

So we finally get to the game in this series where the pitching matchup is in the Sox' favor. And who woulda thunk it that the Sox won both previous games? Especially last night. I mean, seriously? Its like they watched the Patriots on Monday and said, "Oh yeah? We'll show you pullin' a win out of your ass."
But anyway, now we are, as I said, to the matchup that should actually favor of the Sox. Beckett is coming off a solid start. Although it was only five innings, and while its not guaranteed that innings six and/or seven etc. wouldn't have been any different had the rain not stopped the game, I'm pretty confident that Beckett is back.
Still, the last two nights not withstanding, this is the friggin' Angels. And I think they're gonna play tomorrow kinda pissed. Who wouldn't? Green probably struck out twice in that at bat. I'm not such a blind homer not to see that. That game has to hurt, it has to stick in their craw, and it has to really, really, piss them off.
That could work against them, though, like the Cardinals in '85 after the blown call in game 6. But I doubt that. I'm pretty sure Scioscia will get his team to channel the anger and frustration the right way. I know praising him isn't popular around here, but I still think he's one of the best managers in the game. If Tito ever left I'd hope they at least look into prying him away from the Angels.
(ducks)
So thankfully its still gonna be Beckett they have to deal with, against Santana, whose star just ain't that bright anymore. He's still okay, but nowhere close to as good as was touted to be a few years ago. Plus he's not gonna get the weaker lineup that Lackey and Saunders got, now that Vic will be back. Maybe Youk as well. Still Varitek with Becket pitching unfortunately. I'd rather see Kotchman play first and Vic behind the plate if Youk is sitting again, but some things you just have to accept.
Anyway, I think Beckett will be good for seven innings, two to three runs. I would say eight, but like I said, this is the friggin Angels. You don't even crack their batting order in the ninth spot unless you hit .285. Still, I'm confident Becket can mange to get to the seventh, and probably through it in good fashion.
Santana, on the other hand, won't be so lucky. I see him going five plus, four runs. Our bullpen holds, and the Angels go back home to fume about this series till we meet them in October.

Another thing on sweeping the Angels, it may not be very scientific, but I want them afraid. I want them wound up and tight going into our ALDS matchup. Plus, every loss they suffer now forces them to play more meaningful games down the stretch (assuming the Rangers ever win another game). That means less rested players and - dare I dream? - a rotation that isn't aligned. Go get them, Josh.

That. That is fucked up. Who the hell confronts a burglar with a ninja sword? And what burglar charges at a man with a ninja sword?

By the way, the only thing Scoscia is capable of doing with a ninja sword is harakiri.

It couldn't possibly be that you left everything high and when you finally threw a low strike the ump was fooled.
Nah.

This is true. However, its Baltimore- I wouldn't confront a criminal in that city with anything less than a semi- automatic.

Isn't it more likely that the umps were pissed off at Scioscia's antics following the blown check-swing call?

Nah.
My Angel-fan friends out here started calling him F.U. Entes. In April. They fucking hate this guy, evidently with good reason!

So, you're assuming the kid with the sword was a ninja who's studying to be a optometrist or something?
Oh, and Fuentes- all that bitching about the umps not calling a straight game is really gonna help you next time out with your strike zone.

Thank you for remembering the "THE" of my alma mater. It pisses me off to no end when people say "John Hopkins".
