I feel better about Daisuke than I do about the offense.

I wonder if it's the spike in Martinez' case.
Could be the most important game of the year coming up today. There's a big difference between this team's chances in the playoffs if we have effective Dice-K. And of course a win moves us to a half game behind the Angels, and two means Texas is looking up at them rather than us.

Lineup: Ellsbury, Pedroia, Drew, Bay, Ortiz, Lowell, Kotchman, Varitek, Gonzalez. Matsuzaka. #redsox
Wonder why Youks and Martinez aren't playing after an off day.
Whenever I complain about the line-up, the Sox win. I have great powers, apparently.
So: Why sit Youks and VMart at the same time? With the line-up already weakened by Tek's pitcher like batting skills, they should really have both of them in the line-up to balance things out. Going the other way, and taking out arguably their best two bats at the same time, is hard to justify. And with Daisuke on the mound, it stands to reason that the Sox will need runs tonight.
Now if the Sox win, you can send money and thanks my way.

I would like the Red Sox to beat him somehow. Repeatedly.
The title of this game thread is awesome, by the way. It captures the line of thinking of everyone contemplating this game.

I agree. Props to Foulkey.

That's the beauty of Dice-K, though, no harm in stolen bases if he's going to walk them loaded as soon as anyone gets on, anyway.

I still think that Lackey's suck will overcome Dicek and the lack of Youks and Vmart.

Other than Tek and probably Kotchman, it's still a pretty good lineup. Hopefully Dice-K shows us something tonight other than large quantities of suck.

Dice-K: the stolen base neutralizer.
No prob, as long as he keeps all Angels' body or uniform parts from touching home plate thereafter. Well, body parts are OK if they're detached from the rest of the body. Another crazed emoticon here.

I think section 43? Behind the visitor's bullpen, in the narrow section by the railing that separates the bleachers from the grandstands in RF.

Wow, awful line-up. I guess the management wants to see if Matsuzaka can win a low scoring game.

Yeah, the management purposely sits guys out just to make it interesting.

I just don't like Lowell at 3rd when you've got a pitcher who hasn't pitched in a while. Dice K needs all the help he can get.

Well, considering that he may be the 4th starter in the postseason, and depending on which ALDS series the Sox get (assuming obviously they are in) he may not even pitch, its hard to say there is a "big" difference in their postseason chances, given that 4th starters are rarely a deciding factor in short series...

Tito on what he'd like from Daisuke: "I'd like him to get them out more consistently." Looking for less effort to get velocity. #redsox

You lost me by the third sentence. What does last season (frustrating, but not bad and sometimes pretty damn good) have to do with tonight?
We know by now he isn't a great pitcher. He can be quite good. That said, I'd be surprised if he was good tonight, given all the circumstances of his season so far (coming off a long DL stint after pitching terribly, facing a very good offense)

Merriweather hitting the snot out of McKelvin, Woods stripping the ball like a Tasmanian Devil and the kicker, Gostkowski, sticking his nose in there to recover, I don't know if I'd call that luck. More Patriots doing whatever has to be done to win a game. Lackey should be due for a stinker.

Even assuming a defensive stop, that's getting the ball back at their own 30-40, no timeouts, about 1:30 on the clock, and needing a touchdown. I don't love their chances.

Sometimes you can find a broadcast here:
I've also had a lot of luck with TVAnts in the past. Requires a download and some patience. You install the program, then just search for what you want to watch and it usually finds it and starts streaming. The patience comes in while the streaming loads. It can take 5-10 minutes for it to fully initialize, but once it does it's smooth sailing and more often than not isn't too far behind the live broadcast.
I use it any time I'm in a black out zone.
Edit: It's P2P but it shares steams exclusively. If you just can't access P2P networks at school, then you'll be out of luck with it.

Sciosia has some power on the team this year but the talk will be about how he "utilizes his weapons" and the baserunning.
in 05 Ozzie's small ball got all the credit even though they hit a shitload of homers
