He spits incessantly and probably hasn't taken a shower since the turn of the century. He deserves a beat down. Today.
Win.

Fuck him. I hope he has more to bitch about today. Scratch that - I hope the Sox whip Tampa relentlessly without any weather delays or other excuses of any kind, so that Staats can't call the Wah-mbulance. Go back to the 1970's and audition for non-sex walk-on speaking roles in porn, you big homer.

Considering the thread starter, you made some pretty significant omissions here.
Right now: Fellowship of the Ring
12 pm: The Two Towers
3:45 pm: Return of the King
8 pm: 300
10:30 pm: 300 again
I need a minimum of four TVs to see everything I would want to see today.

After all, why not put four guys from the bench in the line-up at the same time? Why not do that against the better of Tampa's two pitchers today? Why not spread out the bench guys between the two games evenly? Texas, Shemexas.
Terry Francona is the best Red Sox manager I have ever seen but I will never understand his penchant for resting regulars in bunches, particularly in groups of four. This brings back memories of that game in Baltimore a few years ago that was rained out after 5 innings and after which Terry said that the varsity was going to come in during the later innings (that never happened).
I guess this means that we'll get Tek behind the plate, Ortiz at DH and Lowell at 3b in the second game, as he's not going to keep Lowell or Tiz out of the starting line-up for two games in a row.

Meh, we'll have Ortiz, Drew, and Lowell off the bench...I like Reddick and Green against Garza since he's mostly a fastball pitcher.

So it'll be a pitching duel I think. Which is in the Sox favor, because while Garza might dominate for seven plus, unless he throws a CG the Sox will still get to that bullpen, where even this second rate lineup will feast. It'd be nice if they could blow them out, and save the high leverage bullpen arms for the second game, but I'm not sure that'll happen. I think Paps will be in this game to close it. And pray for the blowout the second game.

Does anyone know what's up with EI coverage today?
#25
Posted 13 September 2009 - 10:58 AM
I think the point was that Francona didn't put him in the lineup because of any history of success against Garza.

Lester is facing Shields at 5p.
So... nothing you said makes sense.

As you can tell from my avatar, I'm a huge Tolkein fan. This does indeed look like a busy TV day...glad I split most of my firewood yesterday (the kids can stack it this week). Also, you've got Nadal and Federer both playing US Open semifinals, and Tiger just ripped off a 62 yesterday. Man, I love this time of year!!

To defend him a bit...espn.com does have Lester pitching the first game.
Now, anyone who reads SoSH with any regularity knew Buch was going first, but...

Just saw that. I thought Lester had the early game. My mistake.
Still, Buchholz can go seven plus as well. I don't think he'd be as dominant as Lester, but if he can keep it close its still all about how early the Sox get to the bullpen. Buchholz seven or so, two or three runs. They get the win off the Rays terrible bullpen.
And nothing I say ever makes any sense. So there's nothing new there.

And I expect we are saving Drew and Lowell for the late game, based on the comparative numbers vs Garza and his numbers vs Shields. Might see Anderson at some point too.
