I hope the game goes a lot better than the game thread. Worst I've seen in years.

Not happening so far.

Lester up to 70 pitches already?

Thanks to the weather and the presumably late decision to start on time, Lester was still throwing his warmup pitches at 7:10. The guys in the bullpen were already out there, standing on the warning track, waiting for him.

The last time rain screwed with Lester's warmup routine, he needed 110 pitches to get through five innings against the Marlins.

He's at 19 pitches through 1/3 of an inning so far.

This is total crap. Start the game, play just enough that the delay could fuck with Lester, while their starter hasn't even thrown a pitch yet. Bullshit.

It would be cool if someone invented a machine that could show incoming rainstorms so people could plan accordingly.

Yes but I believe the umps also have the ability to say no after the home team gives the go ahead. If its raining at game time the home team makes the decision whether or not to play. Once the field is turned over to the umpires they make the decision.

Well the way that one was starting, that would be a good thing.
So, double header tomorrow or Sunday? Rays play Monday in Baltimore, so that'd be out.

Well, the weather channel just hired Paul McAnulty. Rumor is he's the new Jim Cantore. His birthday is only 6 months apart from Jim's. Anyway, Paul says ball will be played.

Oh, and why worry about a DH--isn't it likely they'll just wait to see if the game is needed at end of season?
