Thanks to the weather and the presumably late decision to start on time, Lester was still throwing his warmup pitches at 7:10. The guys in the bullpen were already out there, standing on the warning track, waiting for him.

The last time rain screwed with Lester's warmup routine, he needed 110 pitches to get through five innings against the Marlins.

He's at 19 pitches through 1/3 of an inning so far.

Yes but I believe the umps also have the ability to say no after the home team gives the go ahead. If its raining at game time the home team makes the decision whether or not to play. Once the field is turned over to the umpires they make the decision.
