There it is! The out that makes this drenched game official!
Is it wrong to be so happy about this?

No, not at all. In fact, it brings to mind this game ("That's what you get for building a stadium by the ocean"-- Oil Can Boyd).Mistake by the lake

Attendance: 6661

Sometimes I forget that "Major League" was actually based on a true story.

This delay may be for the best. Either they will just call it after a short while, or at least when they resume another Sox pitcher will take over giving Beckett the rest of the night off.

Ok, this still confuses me. Since they started the top of the sixth, do they have to finish it or can they retroactively call it after 5? I know this has only happened a million times, I'm slow.

This is very solid analysis. Thank you for the insight.

The sad thing is, the attendance was probably exaggerated.

I believe minor league umps have to wait 45 minutes before they call the game.

If they do resume I imagine there will be VERY few fans left in the park. It's after 11 EST after all.

Looks like Seattle is handling Texas well. 8-3 in the 8th.

That, or Smoltz just changed the terms of his deal, and he gets to beat Tiger then next time they hit the links together.

Rain delay in Texas. Two on nobody out, bottom of the ninth, Rangers down by five. And I got the feeling its raining worse there than it is here. Helluva time to stop play.

Eventually they will finish that game in Texas and the Mariners will win. The lead will then be 3.

Big day tomorrow. King Felix going for the Mariners and a doubleheader against a dead team. Laad could be 4.5 if everything goes right.

With a double header scheduled for tomorrow, it was a Godsend that we didn't have to use anyone from our pen this evening.

I love that we beat the shit out of the Rays and that the wheels have completely fallen off for that team. Their fans are unbelievably classless. Why the hell did Longoria sign a 6 year deal with a team that has a limited payroll, a pathetic ballpark, and almost no fan support???

Funny comment from Beckett quoting Schilling about going 5 innings and kissing your sister or something to that effect.

Good to see Beckett headed in the right direction. And nice that he only has to go 5 so we can keep his innings down, and the pen's innings down during the stretch run.

Oh yeah the offense rocked. Lets keep it up.

A 22 year old kid getting 17.5 MIL guaranteed? That'll do it, when you have like 2 weeks of mlb service time.
