-It's 9.00, Joan.

-Looks like he's pretty fucking horrible there.

-Yes, it does, seem that way, Joan. Nice boobs, BTW.

Sorry to go all Wiki on you:

In the TV series Mad Men, which is set in the year 1960, Selectric II typewriters are featured prominently on the secretaries' desks, even though they weren't introduced until 1973. In his 2008 DVD commentary, creator Matthew Weiner said the Selectric was chosen for his show for aesthetic reasons and because of the difficulty of assembling the required number of period-appropriate conventional electric typewriters. Weiner admits that alert fans have picked up on this anachronism and have commented on it, but that he was willing to put up with the criticism to get the right "look". He seems unaware, however, that his cast is equipped with 1970's-era Selectric II's. He refers in his commentary only to the revolutionary IBM typewriter appearing 10 months after Episode 1, which is set in March, 1960.

So...it's a Selectric II. Unless, of course, you're right. In which case it is a Selectric I.

I believe she is said to be "stacked", as in, her upper body looks stacked upon her hips. A stiff breeze could upset the balance and send her top crashing to the floor.

So I think the matchup is good tonight. Shields has always had trouble with the Sox. Lester has historically been a little iffy against Tampa too, but I think we can safely say that phase is over. I expect at least six solid from Jon, probably seven, with two or fewer earned runs. I think Shields will make it to the sixth, probably not through it, and give up three. Then the Sox get to the bullpen, which is in the process of throwing away Tampa season all by themselves. They have just been terrible the last few weeks, just like old times. So even if Lester is not totally on, or Shields pitches out of his mind good, as long as the Sox keep it close and can get to the D E V I L Rays pen for two plus innings, then the Sox should win.
Which is important, because the Sox really need to win this series to keep at least the two game advantage over the Rangers going into the Angels series. The matchups there make me believe the Rangers will take two of three, but could lose two of three just as easily if someone other than Felix on Monday comes to pitch for Seattle. Maybe Fister on Sunday. He's up against Holland, who has been sucking pretty hard recently. Or maybe Ichiro plays out his mind awesome like he is wont to do once and a while and just carries the Mariners for the weekend.
Either way, the Sox need to take this series. Winning tonight would be a good start.

The II had a more angular casing. It's a model I in the pic, due to the curved side and somewhat recessed keyboard. They probalby had a mix for the show.

Um...yes. The II was more angular. Which is exactly what the OP image shows.

Really, all you're doing now is embarrassing yourself in front of the entire board.

A Chart With Dots

We can all agree the original image has a solid or capped Platen Knob as seen above. Correct? Like this: Or this.

The Selectric I had an open or spoked Platen Knob like this.

It is blindingly obvious the OP was showing a Selectric II.

If I get banned from this board because I'm having to educate you on the nuances of the IBM electric typewriter, I am going to be very upset (and have to start a new screen name).

It looks like IBM lost velocity significantly after 1974, and the 1978-1982 attempt to reinvent itself as a LOOGY (Electronic typewriter? Please.) was doomed to failure from the start. Learning the knuckleball from Charlie Chaplin gave it a new lease on life and John Scully's disastrous stint as Apple's pitching coach prolonged IBM's career more than it deserved. Even so, not HOF-worthy, and certainly no GOAT.
