It's pretty bad when I'm pining for Daisuke in Boston tonight instead for solid 90 pitch/3 inning performance.

Now now, Let's not be negative about Byrd. He had a bad outing against the White Sox. We all saw that. But there's no reason to think that he'll be bad tonight against the Orioles. Well, okay, there actually are a few good reasons to think he will but still- you'll never impress Joan with that attitude.
This could be one of those wading games. Wading through half the game, waiting to get to the bullpen in the second half. While this is the same Berken guy the Sox bludgeoned for nine runs in less than two innings, Berken has been pretty good his last three games, and not against offensive slouches either. He's held the Indians, the White Sox, and the Yankees to less than three runs each- yet hasn't gotten past the sixth in any start since June. He has only gone six innings five times all year in nineteen starts.
So even if he has found a little bit of mojo, if the can Sox do their heavy pitch count magic on him he might only be good for five innings, then they can feast on that Baltimore bullpen for near half a game. So all Byrd's gotta do to do his job tonight is to at least keep it close, go five to six himself, and let the all hands on deck Sox bullpen take it from there. I think he can do that. I see five plus, three runs or so from Byrd. From Berken five plus, two, maybe three runs. Then the Sox get to the bullpen and put the game away.
As long as the Byrd can not totally shit the bed like last time, I think the Sox will be okay.

And as much as I like Joan (ah Redheads), the Sox really should win it for Sally Draper.

I know she's a bit of a dullard, but she just lost her grandfather Sunday. We all remember how much that day sucks. So win it for the poor little kid.

I suppose we could assume that Francona is acting like an idiot. Or, based on the play last night where Martinez got his hand hit, we could infer that it hurt more in the morning, as these things often do.

I'll choose B, but others' mileage may vary.

I'll go with B as well. Because sitting Vmart the day before an off day which is followed by another off day four days later doesn't make a ton of sense to me.

Even though I'd go with B as well, I don't think I'd necessarily say something not making a ton of sense is exactly a reason for that choice with respect to Tito.

Of course, it makes tremendous sense to sit one of the team's most productive hitters in a game when we have good reason to believe that the Sox offense will be asked to carry the load.

Dave Trembley is sadly one of the most famous people my alma mater has produced (along with Stan Van Gundy). This probably doesn't bode well for my future endeavors, but that's besides the point.

In any case, as sick as I am of the guy making my school look bad, I hope that we continue to pound the Orioles into submission and make him look even worse.

FUCK the Orioles and FUCK Dave Trembley. And FUCK the Rangers too.

Win tonight.

Cal Ripken's '8' stolen from outside Md. ballpark 9/9/2009 2:52:00 PM
Associated Press/AP Online

By BEN NUCKOLS
BALTIMORE - As if things weren't bad enough for the Baltimore Orioles, who just clinched their 12th consecutive losing season: On Wednesday, a temporary fence and police tape surrounded the spot that had been occupied by a monument to one of the team's all-time greats, Cal Ripken.

The large aluminum No. 8 outside the Camden Yards ballpark was stolen Tuesday night by four young men who were arrested about two hours later, Baltimore police said. The monument was recovered.

Surveillance cameras captured video of the men removing the 4-foot monument and placing it in the bed of a pickup truck, police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said.

Police put out an all-points bulletin, and the men were arrested in east Baltimore after officers responding to a disorderly conduct report spotted the object in the truck bed, Guglielmi said.

The Orioles have a series of aluminum monuments depicting retired uniform numbers outside one entrance to the downtown ballpark. They include Brooks Robinson's 5, Jim Palmer's 22 and Eddie Murray's 33.

The suspects were identified as Gary Parker, 19, of Baltimore; Matthew Rayner, 19, of Chase; Patrick Reynolds, 18, of Middle River; and Jason Stoneberner, 19, of Essex.

They were being held at the city's Central Booking and Intake Center on charges of felony theft and destruction of property, police said. There was no indication they had attorneys.

Police returned the monument to the Orioles on Wednesday after taking photos and examining it for evidence, Guglielmi said.

"I don't know if they'll be able to reuse it," he said.

Orioles spokesman Monica Barlow said the team had no comment about the theft because it was a police matter. She said she did not know when the monument would be reinstalled. The Orioles began a five-game road trip with a 10-0 drubbing by Boston Tuesday night, their 82nd loss of the season, and will return home Monday.

Ripken had no comment on the theft, said his spokesman, John Maroon.

Nothing to do with baseball but just a follow up to stupid people post.
From Burlington Free Press

Police said they caught four people trying to remove the giant pepper from a Chili's restaurant in Bennington.

Police said the group ran 470 feet of extension cord across four-lane Vermont 67 and through a Home Depot parking lot to power an electric drill used to detach the logo sign from atop the building early Sunday.

An alarm went off at about 4:30 a.m.

The four -- two college students, a recent graduate and one who is "between work and school" -- were cited with grand larceny.

The sign is valued at $8,000.
