I know there are some former oarsmen out there, but was wondering if there is anyone currently hitting the water regularly?
Unfortunately won't be making the trip this year for the Head of the Charles. Last time I did it was in 2005, the first year they let quads race. Fun stuff taking a 4x under Weeks Bridge. Glad I wasn't bowing.
Will be racing the local head race here (Head of the Colorado) in a 8+.
Anyone else?

I rowed the Charles all through high school (Belmont Hill) and remember it all very fondly. I am an older dude now, however, and alas my rowing days have ended. However, in a nice twist, my son is starting high school here in DC, and has signed up for a fall rowing session that would put him on track for freshman crew in the spring. I never pressured him in that direction, and its nice to see.

Head race season was fine. Did two races back in October. A 4x and a 8+.
Right in the middle of ramping up for the spring race season now. Got a 1000m sprint race at the Heart of Texas regatta in three weeks. Racing in the 8+, 4+ and 4x.

I learned to row up at Brooks in North Andover, MA. Ed Kloman was my coach. Awesome guy, better coach.
I did the CRASH-B's way back in 1992 when it was at MIT. I remember seeing the computer monitory simulating the racing and it thought it was so futuristic.
Some of those dudes who do those erg tests are sick. I saw a national team guy spin a 5:45 a couple years ago at the Erg Rodeo here in Austin. I was in awe.

I rowed at Belmont Hill back in the 70s. Lots of good races against Brooks!
My son -- without my prompting -- has to my delight this year joined the freshman crew at Gonzaga High School in DC. They won nationals last year and went to Henley, so its a pretty awesome program. Cant believe the year-round stuff now - its SO intense.

First HOCR since 2005. Training is whipping my ass. It's alot different getting up for one of these when I'm single and in my 20s. Now in my mid-30s and with a kid, I'm exhausted training on top of working and family life.

Also, a nice piece on veterans returning to row. Link doesn't work, so go to http://www.boston.co...s/?p1=GN_Sports and look for this headline:

About to head to the airport.
I'll be rowing at 1:15 on Saturday. Stroking the Austin Rowing Club Men's Crew 8 in the Club 8+. Will have my Red Sox wool hat on.
