A popular item brought back from last year's auction: The Predict The Total Raised contest. Predictions are (now just) $5 each and can be Entered Here on the website. We'll come up with some nice prizes for the winners. Since the auction is shorter this year, predictions received by midnight Sunday the 12th will win a bigger prize than predictions received by Friday the 17th (auction ends the 19th). Trust us, the prizes will be good. Predictions must be registered no later than midnight Friday July 17th to be eligible for prizes. You may optionally post your prediction here in the thread but may want to consider whether that's a strategic advantage for your fellow guessers or not. The winner will be the closest to the gross total raised (before fees and expenses). The closest guess in either direction wins. No pennies. Only whole dollar amounts.

There will be a week one winner:

Macallan 12 yr., retail value $75; Fris is also going to throw in a bottle of his fine anejo tequila.

The week two winner:

Sanctuary Pinot Noir, retail value $35

But now, whomever is closest, whether week one or week two can also win a new, fabulous prize! Drumroll please!

You know you wanted it, but it was snatched from your hungry, hungry hands. It can still be yours! You will also win a chicken and a few shots of crappy vodka!

Go for it SoSH!

I can't be the only one doing this. I hope the lack of postings just means people are keeping their predictions a secret.

I've got three predictions from you but only two payments. There are a grand total of four paid entries so far.

The person with the Ga Tech email, who paid the original $20 fee, needs to PM me for info on their options for additional predictions, raffle tickets or partial refund. I sent you an email but it was returned.

You're in for a total of four entries qualified for the week one prizes. Thanks for the support.

Just twelve entries for week one. Odds are pretty good. I'm tempted to give stats on the entries, such as average prediction, but I'll refrain for competitive reasons...

I won the chicken so I could give it away again. It's the chicken that keeps on giving.

This going to be very close between Stiffysboss and Fishercat with Orange Julia not out of it quite yet. All were week one entries so both prizes up for grabs. Probably won't have a winner until later in the week. Watch the Audit Thread for totals.

Not to worry. You're out of the running. It's between OJ and gtg807y, an early entrant. Depends upon one last possible transaction and could come down to misc. raffle tickets and cook books purchased over the next day or so. Those are still coming in.

Really? I can't even remember the exact amount of my guess. But I've got big plans for that Macallan and tequila if I win (hint: I'm going to drink them). As for the chicken... well my place in downtown Atlanta has a balcony. Should be a fine coop.

If you win, it would be a magnanimous gesture if you gave the chicken to OJ as a consolation prize.

If you or someone you know matches the bid on Curt's personal message offer, or several people do... If someone decides they want to play baseball in Fort Myers... If several someones enter the raffle or buy cook books... If we get any surprise donations...

Hell, Stiffyboss could be back in it!! She's a closer in the stretch. Don't know if you can hold her off.

Stiffy sees it as a dinner, I see it as a donation to anyone who can give it a good home.

Total as of Midnight 7/24-7/25 is: $37,167.

Orange Julia predicted: $36,575 for a difference of just $592!!

gtg807y, among four predictions had one for $39,000 for a difference of $1,833.

A match for Curt's personal message, a donation, a few cook books or raffle entries could have turned it either way.

Stiffysboss was $47,465 which would have been in the running had a few 'big things' happened.

Congratulations Orange Julia!

P.S. Special thanks to PortageeExpress for predicting over $71,000. We appreciate the confidence and hope...

This is all so exciting. I'd like to thank everyone who supported my guess.

After consulting my local zoning laws, however, I have found that Chickens are not allowed in my county (until i get a variance) unless they are in bbq so I have been working to find my chicken a good home with some other chickens in New Hampshire, but for the time being, she is staying put with the vodka tinged chicken handler. I am hoping to get some pictures of the chicken and maybe send it some gifts at the holidays.

The rest of the household is eagerly awaiting news on the scotch and tequila.
