Nice, steal my thunder why dontcha? Don't you have a blog to write or something?

Keep in mind folks, this is a gross total and does not account for PayPal fees, cookbook costs, t-shirt costs, donor minimum guarantees, any shipping costs, etc. The net amount going to ALS will be somewhat less.

Actually it is (as of yesterday): Sum of all open auction high bids + Funds received to date (as shown in Audit Thread) + Funds received to date (not yet shown in Audit Thread).

I think it might be a good idea if there were some object (Like Anne's awesome aerial shot of Fenway) that could just be priced at $100 (or whatever) and everyone who wanted one could get one. Sell a dozen or more, and the total would (ideally) greatly exceed what one person might bid the price up to.

That way lots of people who would otherwise miss out could get the 'prize' with no downside to the amount of money raised. (of course, if this idea creates a shit-ton of work for AMH, then it isnt a good idea after all)

Just food for thought as I go thru the auctions...

Todd

Todd - this is actually a really good idea...I should have thought about it earlier. Given that the auction for that particular photo has started, I think we'll need to run with it as is for this year. But, I'll definitely give it some thought for next year.

Thanks Anne,

I love that photo. Hopefully, you can ID some other cool ones for this approach later. If you come up with some options, i will pay 100-150 for one, to the charity, this year.

Cheers,

T

Total based on actual receipts as of today at noon plus pending bids as of last night at 7PM (so it's actually well over $27k by now): $26,916! Keep it going everyone. And thanks for the support!

Try this! You asked for a picture of the Big Check...

The seemingly odd amount (so far) is explained by what amounts were cleared and available three days ago, which is the lead time for the transfers from PayPal. I wanted to be sure you guys had a substantial portion of the net proceeds to give to Ms. Tara from Mass ALS this weekend at the Bash. I moved all I could over to the bank account so I could have this for today. I'm on the way to the post office now to overnight it to Ms. Candy. Thank you everyone!! It is real. We do make a difference!

That won't show up until August Bash time; we're still selling cookbooks through 8/14 - and every little bit helps! The grand total won't be available until everything is paid in and paid out and the books closed.

There will, however, still be a winner announced in the "predict the total" game. I believe the cut-off for that is/was sometime this week? LT's the 'PTT' guy!

I don't know how many of you work for non-profits that depend on fundraising dollars so let me just chime in that when an organization receives a check with no strings attached, no specification on how the money has to be used, no additional dinners or glad-handing that takes up time and resources from a non-profit, well this type of gift is just enormously helpful. Mass ALS can use these funds wherever they see the greatest need - whether that means helping a specific family with respite care, or purchasing a piece of equipment, or providing transportation, or hiring staff - who knows what the greatest need is at any moment but it lets the organization make the decision.

Well done SoSH, well done.

And again, appreciation to the organizing TEAM.
