Jeter SS
Damon LF
Teixeira 1B
Rodriguez DH
Posada C
Cano 2B
Swisher RF
Cabrera CF
Ransom 3B

Pena optioned down to AAA, so the Cody Ransom face gets the start at 3B with A-Rod DHing tonight. Posada moves up to 5th against the lefty. Washburn has a 2.56 career ERA against NY, his best against any team he's faced more than twice.

NY is 6-0 since I'm back in the US (4-9 while I was away), 44-32 for the year, 12 over .500 for the first time this season. Let's keep it going...

Big Game Andy has the Homer Dome in his head.

Here's to the issue looming larger for him.

Washburn had horrendous numbers at the old Yankee stadium, but Pettittes numbers at the new one are just as bad.

Expect runs.

2.82 career ERA there in 38.1 innings.

Washburn certainly loves his new OF defense. His 3.77 FIP is close to what he put up when he had the best year of his career (3.71) which was with the Angels in 02.

Reverse Lock for a pitcher's duel? - Probably not.

That is an absolutely atrocious 6-9 the Mariners are running out there tonight. Balentien, Chris freakin' Woodward (he's still in the league?), and two guys batting below .200. Yikes.

And it isn't like they are sacrificing offense for defense. They have the worst defense in the league.

How about their 3 and 4?

Jose Lopez - .708 OPS

Griffey Jr - .736 OPS

This is a bad line up in AAA, nevermind the big leagues.

And Chris Tillman is one of the very top pitching prospects in the game today.

And Balt could probably trade Sherrill at the deadline for a decent prospect.

Only when he hits the bowl. He's probably a .240 hitter in that regard as well.

So I was just in the car and Suzyn was doing scores. She says something along the lines of "Remember Josh Johnson who shut down the Yankees? He pitched 3 and a third innings today allowing 5 walks and 4 hits" I guess implying that he sucks or something and shutting down the Yankees was a fluke. Josh Johnson is a fucking Cy Young contender...but I guess it's too much for her to know that.

Is the ball NOT carrying to right anymore? Seems like early in the season everything hit in the air was gone.

edit: not sure if that answers my question or not.

They already got some help from the ump in the second, so that's out. Maybe a baserunning error? Going to third on a ball hit in front of him.

Sure thing Singleton, Pettitte walked Gutierez on purpose to get to the lefty hitting specialist.

And the answer is: Never. When the Yankees play a team, any team (other than the Red Sox), they are not a major league team. Or that team is "rolling over".
