Yesterday we saw a bit of the old Derek Lowe Face™. Today, let us look for the Jair Jurrjens Glow Face™ .

WIN
Where there is much desire to learn, there of necessity will be much arguing, much writing, many opinions; for opinions in good men is but knowledge in the making.
- John Milton

I like to think I am simultaneously mature and enlightened enough to see the reasoned arguments on both sides of this while simultaneously immature enough to think almost everything about this story is funny.
- Super Nomario

Pedroia: David is fine. He's our teammate and we believe in him. It could have been me who hit into a double play. It is 60 at-bats. A couple of years ago I was hitting .180 [I forget the exact number] and everyone wanted to kill me. What happened?
Reporter: MVP
Pedroia: Laser show!

Today's lineup (from Amalie) if they get the game in:

Pedroia, Drew, Youkilis (3B), Bay, Ortiz, Kotsay (1B), Ellsbury, Green, Kottaras. Wakefield pitching.

Take the series, guys - no reason not to. Here's to a great outing from the good Wakes, so more hits from Papi, and a good old fashioned Atlanta ass kicking on Father Day.

GO SOX - WIN TODAY!

Unless Braves are playing an extreme shift today you are right. Blanco will probably be in RF.

Boston.com had the typo.

According to Amelie's Twitter, Daisuke to the DL, Dusty Brown called up. Brown seems like an odd choice... something wrong with Varitek, perhaps?

I'm guessing he'll be sent down when Smoltz is activated, but a 3rd catcher is still a weird choice. Does he have options left? Bailey and Carter do, right?

edit: Forgot they have to play by NL rules next week. Maybe this means Francona will hit for Varitek!!!!! Or hit for Kottaras... with Varitek sad.gif

Brown, Carter and Bailey definitely have one option year left (after this year).

Getting Brown some ML starts would would be good for his trade value, if nothing else.
So, how much does Pedro want to pitch out of our Pen?

There's a less-than-zero chance that Brown starts any game between now and Thursday (when he gets sent back down) unless Kottaras or Varitek is injured.

Not that Brown has any trade value anyway to improve.

It doesn't seem that odd to me in that they didn't really need a pitcher for Daisuke's spot. Smoltz is taking that on Thursday. Having an extra catcher for three NL park games is probably as good as any place in the line-up for some temporary depth.

Daisuke to the DL is the best Father's Day gift I could imagine. Not seeing Lugo in there today is a close second, though.

Wind gusting very strongly in from CF. Don O says it's a "driving mist", and seems a lot colder than 63.
Jesus guys, lets not make today more intellectually painful than it already is.
