Acquired in the Aardsma trade in January, currently at Greenville:

Age: 20
Born: October 20, 1988
Panorama City, CA
Height: 6-2
Weight: 175
Bats: Right
Throws: Left

Soxprospects.com Scouting Report: Williamson has very good command of three pitches: (1) a high-80s fastball; (2) a plus 11-to-6 curveball; and (3) a decent changeup. His curveball is by far his best pitch, and will buckle a lot of knees, especially at the lower levels. Strong presence on the mound. Tough and competitive. Deceptive delivery hides his changeup well. Has some room to fill out, could add velocity

Having pitched 7.0 scoreless innings yielding only 2 hits and no walks while striking out 8, Fabian Williamson has run away with SoxProspects.com Pitcher of the Week honors for May 18 - 24. The 20-year-old lefthander limited South Atlantic League hitters to a microscopic .167 OPSA over his 2 appearances for Greenville. He is now 3-1 with a 2.55 ERA and 36 strikeouts in 35.2 innings for the Drive and has earned his way into the starting rotation. Williamson was originally drafted in the 22nd round by Seattle in 2006 and was acquired by the Red Sox this January for relief pitcher David Aardsma. He is currently the 41st ranked prospect in the organization by SoxProspects.com.

Currently has a line of 4-2, 2.40 ERA, 2.64 FIP, 45 IP, 24 H, 22 BB, 47 K, 1.02 WHIP, 2 GS, 3 SV

I am looking forward to watching his continued development.

As of 8/4:

7-3
2.13 ERA
2.99 FIP
1.18 WHIP
72 IP
45 H
40 BB
77 K
.176 BAA
1 HR against

In his last 14 IP, only 7 hits against but 13 BB.

Although Aardsma has proven useful for Seattle, the return for a guy we DFA'd seems pretty decent at this point.

That's a whole lotta walks. 5BB/9IP, nice K rate at over 1per inning and nice HR supression.

...and Fabian makes the SoxProspects 2009 All-Star team, joining Kelly, Tazawa, and Buchholz in the rotation:

QUOTE
Starting Pitcher: Fabian Williamson
Having come over from the Seattle organization in exchange for David Aardsma during the offseason, Fabian Williamson was nothing more than an intriguing new name as 2009 began. A 2.42 ERA in 108.0 innings for Greenville certainly changed that. In 28 appearances for the Drive, the tall 20-year-old left-hander managed a 10-5 record, punching out 104 while yielding just 71 hits on the year, only 3 of which were home runs. His versatility and talent were a great asset for Greenville as the team earned a birth in the South Atlantic League playoffs, where they currently are playing for the league championship. Williamson presently sits in the thirty-third spot in the SoxProspects.com rankings

10-5
2.42 ERA
3.16 FIP
1.15 WHIP
108 IP
71 H
53 BB
104 K
1.96 K/BB
8.67 K/9
.189 BAA
.253 BABIP

Took the mound in Game 4 of the SAL championships, giving up 3 ER in 4 innings, at post time on the hook for the loss.

Bump.

Nice start to the season for Fabian with two road victories:

2-0
0.90 ERA
10 IP
6 H
2 BB
5 K
0.80 WHIP
2.43 GO/AO
.176 BAA

Nice outing today vs. Kinston, 5 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 3 BB, 4 K. For the year:

3-1
2.52 ERA
25.0 IP
18 H
11 BB
16 K
2.29 GO/AO
.207 BAA
1.16 WHIP

Curiously, .167 BAA vs. righties, .333 vs. lefties.

Three of Fabian's last four starts have been fairly brutal. For the season:

4-3
4.23 ERA
55.1 IP
53 H
28 BB
33 K
1.88 GO/AO
.256 BAA

His weakness is lefties, oddly enough, although in a SSS. They are hitting .318 off him. His K/BB ratio is very concerning versus the 2/1 he put up last year.

6/26 - traded to OAK for Eric Patterson

Final stats for Salem:

4-3
3.72 ERA
65.1 IP
58 H
34 BB
40 K
1.408 WHIP

Really regressed in 2010, as H/9 rose to 8.0 from 5.9, SO/9 dropped to 5.5 from 8.7, WHIP rose to 1.408 from 1.148, and SO/BB fell to 1.18 from 1.96.
