That has been reported. There have been reports that he is a top 5 round talent, but would slip because of signability. I think he is going to go to Vandy.

Um, how does L.A. NOT take him? High School kids drafted in Round 39 don't usually sign, right?

Wait, the Sox making Marc Sullivan their first round pick way back when wasn't a good idea?

The 32 OPS+ really says "great pick!" doesn't it?
Thanks, Dad!

Those of us who remember when rain threatened to wash out an early inning Red Sox lead, yelling "Yaz! Make it stop!", those who know that while Yastrzemski is a lengthy name, it fits quite nicely in the Hall of Fame, have to expect that the Captain will come through for us one more time and that the number 8 on the Lowell Spinners will be on the back of the only person who should ever wear that number in this organization.
As I recall, Yaz (I) interrupted his Notre Dame education but was helped to get his degree later by the Red Sox. Full scholarship at a great program at Vanderbilt versus the chance to wear that uniform. Sentiment must mean something. Get it done, even if a bit of a family bonus needs to be slipped in. We owe him that much, I think.

Really just the continuation of a trend begun in the last few years. Including the early round, low mileage C reliever, this is a classic Theo/McLeod draft.
