Oh wow, Chad Campbell with a chance to pretty much put it away and hit it in to the sand. Does anyone want the jacket?

If you sell nice clubs, I know an Argentinian who's in the market for a new 7 iron.

That was an amazing break for Cabrerra. He couldn't have ended up in a better spot on that second shot. Absolute miracle luck. And now he hits it within 10 feet. Amazing luck

Pretty awesome, Cabrera hits a terrible first shot, the others hit even worse second shots, and everybody hits teriffic third shots.

After a shaky start these guys are starting to hit some shots now. Serious mental toughness shown by Perry, and Campbell hit a pretty good shot too.

in the decisive question of who has the hottest wife, though, I think Campbell wins over Perry by a nose.

edit: what a choke by Campbell, his was a 30% easier shot than Cabrera's

Down to the final pairing. Wish they would use the 12th for a playoff hole.

Or at least some part of Amen Corner. Why wouldn't they use their most famous holes?

It's pretty much the furthest point from the clubhouse. I'm guessing its to keep it easy for the spectators and for CBS. 10 and 18, while both being great holes, run right next to eachother.

Perry has to go for this, 2 putt is a loss anyway

I'll be pulling for El Pato on the weekend.

I can't imagine this was the outcome the old school Masters members wanted. Kenny Perry was gonna be a fantastic story.......oldest ever to win a major.......and he does it in glorious fashion with a perfect shot on 16. Instead they get some fat spanish guy who can't speak english who's signature shot of the tournament was smashing a ball off a tree on 18 and back into play. I must admit I got a bit of shaudenfraude at the way this played out.

I've never been a fan of Perry's but I have to admit that the whole story line about his folks being sick, etc kind of sucked me in

of course at 9 this morning I was telling my brother that I thought el Pardo would pull it out like he did at Oakmont

and lets give whoever does the media buying for TaylorMade/Adadias a shout out:
after Hawkins, Celinni, Dottie Pepper (I'd bang the shit out of her, but I disgress) hell the entire Live From post game crew basicly calls Sergio a pussy, baby, little spoiled bitch, for his negative coments about Augusta what is the first ad in the break

I'm disappointed Kenny Perry didn't win -- very likeable guy. Cabrera is fun, but this would have been amazing for Perry.

Perry is going to be thinking about the 17th and 18th holes for quite some time. I was pulling for him to finish on top but it really looked like his nerves got the best of him. Blading that chip on 17 and his tee shot on 18 were brutal. Even with all that, he still had the potential winning putt on 18 finish just to the left of the hole. It was a disappointing finish to a great day of golf.

This reminded me a little of the year when Raymond Floyd lost in a playoff to Faldo, the old guy just couldn't finish it.

The second shots at 17 and 18 were probably the worst shots Perry hit in the last 10 years.

Cabrera seems like a cool guy, and his recovery from wacking that tree was special. A great tournament.

The worst part is how this is his second chance at a major in life. He was runner-up in a playoff in the 1996 US Open I think, and said it took him a few years to get over that. Few people get two chances to make their dream come true like this - it's gotta be killing him.

I guess that $660,000 will have to keep him warm at night.

Shag Bag Blog: April

Bookmark and Share
Welcome to the Shag Bag, where the GolfChannel.com team and Golf Channel talent will regularly file thoughts and opinions from around the world of golf.

Even when Sergio Garcia is not in contention at a major championship he seems to make news. El Nino shot 75-74 on the weekend at Augusta National and tied for 38th, his best finish at the Masters since 2004.

A Golf Channel reporter then stuck a microphone in front of Garcia and asked how he liked the golf course.

“I don’t like it to tell you the truth,” he said. “I don’t think it’s fair. It’s too tricky. Even when it’s dry you still get mud balls in the middle of the fairway. It’s too much of a guessing game.

“They can do whatever they want. It’s not my problem. I just come here and play and then go home. That’s about it.”

Eighteen hours later, IMG, Garcia’s management company, released an apology.

“Following my final round at the Masters yesterday, I made comments in an interview to the Golf Channel that I regret and want to apologize for. Out of frustration, I blamed the golf course instead of putting the blame where it belongs, on myself. I didn’t get it done this week. Augusta National is one of the most iconic golf courses in the game and playing in the Masters each year is an honor. I apologize to the members of Augusta National and the fans who rightfully treasure this golf course, and would like to offer my congratulations to Angel for joining the list of legendary names who have won there. I aspire to join that list one day.”

The galleries at Bethpage Black are sure to cut Garcia some slack at the U.S. Open later this summer.
