He's not attacking the basket and that's the main problem. The first game he played with us when he was all hyped up, he at least drove to the hoop and dished a bit and got a layup on one possession.
From what I've been able to watch of him, I think this is currently a huge problem with him, but also might be the best upside situation.
Sometimes he dribbles around a screen, basically beats his man turning the corner to the basket, but doesn't quite
beat his man enough, so then he dishes off. He almost
has these lanes to the basket. Almost.
If he could take those lanes, he'd be much more effective, could penetrate for a layup or drop to Powe/Perk/whoever isn't injured for the layup.
It's distressing to see him not take that lane. But, he's still getting into "game shape". I think over the next 4 weeks, maybe through conditioning he can pick up that extra half step that he needs. I know he's aging, but I feel like he needs literally a tiny bit more burst.
I think the additional playing time this week will actually pay off for him as a bench guy in the playoffs, in terms of conditioning.
