When I was first asked to make this thread, my first thought was "who the fuck would want to make a Bruins thread now?" I mean what's there to look forward to with the Bruins? Michael Ryder has plates in his fucking face. Marco Sturm is drinking beer in lederhosen as he bangs beer maids two at a time. Chuck Kobasew is busy doing stunts for Mr. and Mrs. Smith 2. And the Bruins? They're just plain ass not clicking at all.

Heck, they may have looked good last night, but the bottomline is that they lost. You can follow this TFP garbage, "Oh, they looked good." That's fucking bullshit. Do you remember back in November/December, when they looked good and won? That's what we need right now. None of this pansy ass garbage.

When I first heard that they were facing the Predators, I thought "hey great, I can do a theme about the movie." Quite frankly, I've only seen parts. All I know is that Carl Weathers is a fucking bad ass and that he dies in epic fashion. Therefore, there are no parallels. THERE ARE NO FUCKING PARALLELS.

What the fuck am I to do now?

Well whatever the fuck the Predators have, we have one man. One man is pure magic. One man is pure legend. You don't even need to guess:
ej_kWQvnDc8
That man is David Krejci.

Now, I'll be the first to admit that Krejci's production hasn't been the same these past few games, and that's why I'm featuring him in my first Bruins game thread.

TAKE EM OFF!

MAGIC!

WIN!

Special Thanks:
First I'd like to thank Krejci, for making me believe. I couldn't have done it without him.

Thanks to PSK for making me start this thread. If they lose tomorrow, it's on you.

Thanks you TSC for being the worst game thread starter in the history of SoSH. I'm sorry but you should never start a game thread again. Also, happy birthday!

Lastly, I'd like to thank my fans. If the quality of this thread does not live up to the great expectations that I have bestowed upon myself, I would hope that if Krejci willing, the Bruins give me a second chance such that I may make more epic threads matched only by an epic winning streak.

Fuck it, the B's are gonna win by a huge margin. The Preds are gonna be embarrassed outta Nashville and shit's gonna be good. I can feel it. If I only get updates from this game and I don't get punishing updates (e.g. 5-0 or so) I will be angry..quite angry.

sach, you are beautiful... Happy Birthday TSC...

I'm one more Bruins loss from coming out of retirement. Make it happen tonight B's. If Manny isn't in net, I'm not watching this game. Tuukka Tuukka Tuukka.

Chiarelli needs to get off his ass and make a move, I've got one leg on the Tkachuk bandwagon.

Actually, that's one win and one loss, and combined with this loss, TSC is 1-2. By comparison, with the Celtics you went 19-1 and I went 12-1, so our combined record is 31-2. And in both our streaks the Lakers ended them. So the Bruins are in good hands with you leading the way.... They won't lose until they play the Lakers.

Sorry for piling on, TSC. The Devils made me do it. Happy Birthday!

I humbly resign my ability to start game threads for the remainder of the season. I understand I have failed you all, but I've also failed myself.

I accept your birthday wishes with a heavy heart. I know with Sach leading the way, the Bruins will not be denied.

Win, and win convincingly boys, and this day may yet be a good one.

Happy Birthday TSC! How old are you?

I was just at my friend's 30th party last night, and I turn 30 myself this Thursday.

But there was one positive thing last night. I met a girl who, while certifiably insane, was totally hot and "doesn't do relationships", she prefers "plain old fucking". So at least there's that. Also, she's a female body builder. I'm not sure how I feel about that.

Wait one goddamn minute. You call my shit pansy ass, then you readily admit you haven't seen Predator? What able-bodied, self-respecting male hasn't seen Predator? The movie features 2 future governors, more steroids than the 2001 Texas Rangers locker room, and enough classic death scenes to make it an all-time hangover movie. TSC, I suggest you watch it now. It will cure all your ills.

Back-to-back weekend night games, why must they do this to me.

Nashville can't score. Bruins can't score anymore. Should be delightful.

RMPS, you've beaten and broken and brainwashed me. This will be a 1-0 game decided by Thomas letting in a rebound shot after sprawling too early and not controlling the puck.

Well, I feel very pleased that she's a crazy nympho, no doubt about that. It's the body builder thing. Not that I'm against the possibility of a girl breaking me in half, but the sight of a greased up female muscle head is less than appealing to me.

Good to see you've come to grips with the RMPS reality, Jim.

Meanwhile, Fluto is on the beat in Tennessee. Also mentions in a quick follow up blurb, no Kobasew tonight.

Morning briefing
Posted by Fluto Shinzawa, Globe Staff February 14, 2009 11:18 AM

NASHVILLE -- Good morning from the Sommet Center, where the Bruins will play the Predators tonight at 8 p.m. EST. In homage to the city's music tradition, this rink must be the only one in the league that has a live drum set behind one of the goals.

The Predators are currently on the ice for the morning skate. The Bruins are present for team meetings, but will most likely not have full on-ice participation this morning.

Some tidbits from the game notes:

* The Bruins are attempting to break a two-game losing streak. They have not lost three straight in regulation this season.

* The last time the Bruins were here was in 2006-07. After a 5-0 loss, ex-coach Dave Lewis said it was one of the best games the Bruins had played all year.

* The Predators are 12-0-0 in games where they hold leads after one period. They are the only team to be undefeated in games when they've had leads after the first.

* The Bruins enter tonight's game with a 2-for-32 PP mark in their last eight games. They went 0 for 2 last night against New Jersey.

* Nashville has the third-worst power play in the league (13.9 percent).

* Marc Joanette and Rob Martell will be the referees. Brian Mach and Don Henderson will be the linesmen.

OK, that's it, I'm taking matters into my own hands here.

Sach, you're centering the PP unit. You're the leader of this bunch and we need you creating. TFP, I need you on the left wing. Look for Sach to create behind the net in Gretzky's office. I'll take right wing/in front of net duties. My left handed shot and size can be used effectively as a weapon on the PP.

PSK and jsinger, you're the point men. jsinger always brings it hard with the news updates and is exactly the kind of puck-moving d-man we need on the point. PSK is small and elusive, able to sneak in for a backdoor pass from his good buddy Sach. With this PP, we cannot fail.

FHL indeed, good stuff.

To add something of substance: Anyone not expecting a win tonight? It's been 3 games since we've seen one, and this is not a particularly strong Nashville team (though my Pekka Rinne manlove knows no bounds). They do have, despite their lackluster group of forwards, a tremendous blue line with Suter, Weber, Hamhuis, Zanon and de Vries.

We're still gonna win though.

Was thumbing through Rob Simpson's B's book the other day (yeah, I'm late to the show, but looked pretty well done) and he even bothered to include a blurb about the Lewis era. I guess it was nice that the thing isn't a pure hagiography but still.

Win tonight.

Domo Arigato, Mr. Roboto

Manny Fernandez, Matt Hunwick, Vladimir Sobotka, and Martins Karsums were the only Bruins to skate this morning. The rest of the players were in meetings and participated in off-ice workouts.

No word on who will start in goal for the Bruins. While Tim Thomas wasn't tested much last night, Fernandez would be the likely candidate to get the nod tonight. Even on days when there is an optional skate, Fernandez usually goes out for ice time.

* Julien was pleased with the way the team competed for 60 minutes last night against New Jersey. Julien singled out Patrice Bergeron, who led the team with seven shots. "We thought the last game against San Jose was one of his better games of late," said Julien. "Last night was even better. I think he's really starting to come around. I'm talking more about the offensive side of things. I think he's starting to create a little more. That part of his game is coming around, which is nice. We've never second-guessed his work ethic and his commitment to play the game. I think it's just feeling good about being able to make plays, and that's coming around pretty good."

* While Sobotka and Karsums will be sent back to Providence when Chuck Kobasew and Petteri Nokelainen are healthy, both forwards made solid contributions last night. Sobotka had the rebound of a David Krejci shot bounce off his chest and trickle down his leg before he hit the post. Karsums was disappointed that he couldn't block Bryce Salvador's game-winning goal, but was otherwise pleased with his play. Karsums said he has no issues with jet lag, which is surprising because he said he was off for the first several days when he traveled from the US to Latvia.

* The Predators believe the Bruins have three key players who drive the team. Any guesses? I'll post the answer tonight before the game.

According to the Nashville scouts, three Bruins drive the team: Zdeno Chara, Marc Savard, and Tim Thomas.

Barry Trotz must also hate his life. Here's how Nashville's depth chart stacks up on forward:

Steve Sullivan - Jason Arnott - J.P. Dumont
Ryan Jones - David Legwand - Martin Erat
Vernon Fiddler - Radek Bonk - Joel Ward
Antti Pihlstrom - Jerred Smithson - Jordin Tootoo

I don't know, I'd consider taking the PB's lineup over that.
