Why even play if you're just going to exploit a glitch in the game?
#107
Posted 30 January 2009 - 11:04 PM
Exactly. When I house you 7-0 I do a variety of moves.I've decided that more than anything, I hate people in NHL 09 who try the SAME FUCKING MOVE every time. I'm playing this one kid right now and all he does is try and come out from behind the net and stuff it. The game is not even fun. And what makes me even madder, is that he's beating me 2-1 on two of those bullshit goals.
Why even play if you're just going to exploit a glitch in the game?

And exploiting the games "glitch move" is a staple of the NHL series. The cross crease goal, the far post shot from the top of the circle, and the wrap around goal were all staples of the mid-90's games. And if you didn't lose them, well, you had morals, but you also ended up losing with those morals.
Quit your bitching.

Someone needs to re-acquaint himself with the Krjeci commandments.
7th Krejci Commandment: Thou shall only use the NHL glitch when in dire circumstances, or against one of douchley nature. It shall not the be the entirety of ones offense. Krejci is multi demensional, you shall be too.

Wrong. If you want to go that route, Krejci wins by any means. The glitch move wins. It's all about efficiency.Someone needs to re-acquaint himself with the Krjeci commandments.

I cant remember which one NHL 94 was, although I think it was the cross-crease hold the puck move. Regardless, this was the best hockey video game ever created, closely followed by Ice Hockey for Ninentdo. There is no debate to this statement, and it was actually discussed in a thread in video game sub-forum. I will not budge on this fact.I think it was NHL 94 where the wide wrap around got the goalie stuck to the near post, so you could tuck it in neatly on the far post once around the back of the net.

I also think NHL 94 has the unstoppable one timer between the face off dots. Goalies could only manage a weak wave as it tickled the twine behind them.
edit for spelling

Money doesn't even do it justice, I had that move down pat, could score almost every time with it. NHL 93 is still my favorite game of all time. And who could forget the the ultimate left-right deke in NHLPA 93. Absolutely money.
WHAT? The year they took the blood out of the game so you could no longer knock someone's ass out and then see them weep in pain while blood flows onto the ice? Are you sure? NHL 93 >>>>> NHL 94, I can not be convinced otherwise.I cant remember which one NHL 94 was, although I think it was the cross-crease hold the puck move. I agree I loved the fact that while you were celebrating a win after the game you could skate around with your players and hit them with your stick over their heads with that funny grunting noise that they would make afterwards.

One of my college roommates (Rangers fan)is coming down from Vermont for the game. Looking forward to some Saturday afternoon hockey.

Any hockey game that does not include use of a one-timer cannot lay claim to the title. NHLPA 93 was groundbreaking, then NHL '94 was perfection. Hell, NHLPA 93 didn't even have the team names.WHAT? Sure, drawing blood is cool, but as far as actual hockey games, NHL 94 rules all. I can't wait for PSK to reign down on the issue.
Edit: You son of a bitch Myt1, you stole my thunder. And thank you for clarifying on the 1 skinny 3 fats for Ice Hockey. You sir, are a connoseiur. Enjoy the game.

NHL 94 blows in comparison to NHL 96.
From the wiki:
.Fighting is reintroduced in NHL 96, as are major and double minor penalties.
NHL 94 doesn't have fighting, injuries, majors or double minors. Huge flaw IMO. And I dont know when the cross crease cheap goal started but it definitely exists in 96 and works every time. I used to to score a hattrick with Bob Probert against my friend. He will never live down that even if I used the glitch goal to get it.. its still a Bob Probert hattrick.

It was the first game to feature fighting and majors, and yet Bob Probert logged enough ice time to score three goals?

The Boston Globe reports that, if the Bruins were going to go after Panthers D Jay Bouwmeester, it would likely cost one of the team's young power forwards, Milan Lucic or Blake Wheeler.
Thanks, but no thanks.

I want to point out that this was one of my first Sega games, and I still love it so much to this day. The theme song, the fact that Don Sweeney is one of the best d-men in the game despite not having a great rating, the fact that the teams are identified only by the location and not by the team name (Hartford versus Long Island? Legendary battle). Great game.
edit for solidarity with my NHLPA '93 > NHL '94 brothers above

If I recall correctly, that game would only let you fight, I think twice (whole team, not just 1 guy) before you could not do anything to start another brawl. It was the first game to feature fighting and majors, and yet Bob Probert logged enough ice time to score three goals?

Shenanigans on this one (EDIT: DIDN'T REALIZE IT WAS JUST NAMES, THEY STILL HAD THE ROSTERS THOUGH). I used to rock the Blackhawks due to Jeremy Roenick and him being the most complete video game athlete since Bo Jackson. I can't recall how many Gordie Howe hattricks he had as he was a multi-dimensional player that could score and effectively hit, unlike Brett Hull, Gretzky, and others.Any hockey game that does not include use of a one-timer cannot lay claim to the title. NHLPA 93 was groundbreaking, then NHL '94 was perfection. Hell, NHLPA 93 didn't even have the team names.

And I too was a yung'n during those days (though I didn't watch Power Rangers...brother used to taunt me mercilessly if I did) and would still rock that game. Best part bar none was when you won the Stanley and skated around the ice with what looked like a giant stereo. Caused some fun street hockey moments.
TSC, Hitz is da bomb. One of my favorite Playstation games ever. And I think the Bruins were adequate instead of miserable.
Edit: Agreeing with PSK on Wayne Gretzky's 3D hockey. Basically a Hitz predecesor and IIRC a staple in game rooms in hockey rinks across the nation.

Was just about to drop the Wayne Gretzky;s 3D hockey ref- it was the first video game I ever owned. The net actually caught on fire after a goal. In retrospect, that's kind of lame. Best fights of any NHL game though- and the B's were stacked, except between the pipes- IIRC the choice was Bill Ranford or Craig Billington.

Only 4 minutes. Not bad for a Saturday morning.
Also, if you are playing any of the NHL games without adhering to the gentlemen's agreement that the wrap-around or cross-crease move is outlawed, then you're playing checkers while everyone else is playing chess.
