Very excited to see this year's team. Last year, although they lost, was a very good year for the B's and hopefully they can continue their good success into this season.

Let's start the season off right this week:

2 Road Wins for the Bruins
1 Ice Breaker goal each for Ryder/Bergeron/Wheeler
1 Ice Breaker win for Fernandez
...and a whole lotta enjoyment for me!

Holy crap, seeing this thread on the main page brought a smile to my face and made my day. Finally, hockey's back. And with no (major) scheduling conflicts with the Sox this week. Awesome.

Edit: Nevermind, I thought Saturday's B's game was late, not at 830, which is in direct conflict with the Sox. At least Thursday night I should catch most of it once my own hockey game is done.

I'd like to thank the Jews for having a holiday tomorrow that had my Professor cancel our evidence class. Thank you, Jew people, I can now watch opening night from start to finish.

It's on like Donkey Kong. I ignore all pre-season B's because I feel like it only makes the wait for the regular season seem worse. Now I can finally immerse myself in all things Bruins.

Can't wait to see what the big Marketing plan for them is this year. It can only get better.

Psyched to see Wheeler make the squad. Lucic really blazed that trail for him and made it possible for Chia and co. to be willing to roll the dice and go with a player so green.

Saturday night will be great, though. Watch the Sox while the B's record on DVR. Watch the B's at midnight with a solid buzz going and be able to zip through it in a little over an hour. DVR has made hockey so much better to watch...moreso than anything else I record.

Really want to see Axe and Ryder come out strong to kick things off. If they come out of the gate strong, we're in great shape. Not too worried about Bergie, even if he starts slow.

For anyone who wants a nice little pick me up watch the YouTube of Game 6 highlights, preferably the one with the play-by-play. I still get chills everytime I watch Sturm's shift (one of the best and most complete I may have ever seen) and when I listen to Edward's call as Kessel clears the zone. I think this is the one but I don't have sound so who knows.

Great clip...I love, on Sturm's goal, when he collects the rebound, the anticipation of the crowd before he buries it.

I've had Game 6 DVR'd and haven't watched it all the way through since I was at the game live with TonythePony (who I had never met until before the game). It was just an awesome experience, and I haven't had time to watch the whole thing. Well, I forgot to record the replay until a few minutes left in the 1st.

But, I've decided to watch what I have tonight and do a little diary. I've spoilered it in the interest of saving space, but I need to pay my respects. It's kind of like a Native American sacrifice thing, only not, or maybe it is. For those types of questions, we should ask Reverend, but for running diaries of a game that occured a little less than six months ago, well I'm your man.

Annnndddd, we're live from Salem, NH. I'm joined by my two cats who don't understand why I'm typing with my hands instead of petting them. Selfish bitches.

1-1 Bruins! Kessel ties the game. That move in HD by Kessel is just magic. It

literally was a 1.5 second move from blue line to shot on goal. Montreal's

defenseman was equally as impressed, as he never took his eyes off him. Too bad

he couldn't keep them on the puck.

The crowd was loud on the Kessel goal, but has calmed down a bit now. You can

hear the yelling contests in the stands. They're chanting "USA!USA!". You have

to wonder how Montreal fans survived a game as intense as this. I sat next to a

70 year old guy and I thought about punching his wife in the face, but then he

might have enjoyed that.

We really do crave carnage. Every time a Canadien player gets hit the crowd

goes nuts... " DANDENAULT GOES DOWN!" I love how unapologetically Jack roots for

the Bruins. Although someone needs to introduce him to some teeth whitener,

seriously ripping all those butts between periods has made his mouth look like

he's a lost cast member of the Pirates of the Caribbean.

Wow, Thomas got lucky when Higgins hit the post. He had him beat cleanly.

And Kessel has the defense on their heels again. Just walked right around

Markov for a solid chance. End to end action... except for Glenn Murray. He's

trying real hard to skate end to end but it's just not working for him..... and

as I type this Murray misses not one, but two shots on the PP (like the

whiff
) the latter of which leads to Plekanec on a breakaway goal. 2-1

Montreal. Awesome. Blake Wheeler Blake Wheeler Blake Wheeler. Ok, I'm back.

Crowd still a little bit stunned. Not sure how to react. I think this was at

the point that I started speeching about how we'll never surrender, we're

winning, don't worry. I'm pretty sure Dylan Thomas took over my body at one

point.

Krejci hits the post! Wow, I forgot just how good he was playing at the end

of last year. He's really acting as a catalyst for the Bruins.

Going into the 3rd now... I remember sitting there in the intermission on the

leather chairs in that beautiful suite, drinking Sam Adams straight from the

bottle and shooting the shit with TonythePony. Good times, man, good times. Had

the Red Sox game on behind us, and the waitress just begging to get us more

beer. Gotta say I had a feelin' I was in for something special.

And Jack is back folks, ready to jump on the ice and punch out the ref. I

literally think he's about to jump down from his press box and elbow drop good

ol' stripes.

Thomas and Price exchange nice saves. Both goalies look like they're

nervous.... and Sobotka somehow gets that puck to trickle past Price. Why is

Vladimir on the bench again?

Final Verdict on Sobotka's goal: Not offside. (You will never get me to

believe otherwise, not even if you set up a laser show reenactment with 22nd

century technology. I don't believe you. Don't even try.)

PP Montreal. Jack is officially going to pat the refs down for Canadian

Dollars after the game. Killd off by the Bruins. They have a 6-1 shot advantage

6 minutes in. And Ward buries Kovalev! Alexei responds with a slash behind

Ward's leg. Classy guy. I'm glad he's their Captain. Very symbolic.

Koivu with a great deflection, Montreal 3-2. You can hear the Montreal fans.

They sound like pancreatic cancer. I'm pretty sure I'm contemplating some sort

of assault on blanc et rouge le suck fan. There certainly is not a lot of noise

right now. It sounds like a funeral. No wait, we can still boo Kovalev. Small

victories.

And there's Milan Lucic! LOOOOOOOOCCCCCCHHHHHHH!!!!!!! Wake Lazarus up and

tell Death to fuck off, we are alive and well! Crowd now understands and is 100%

in it for the long haul. Jack talking about pounding his hand on the Steel! Ha,

how bout that Nils! I'm pretty sure I fractured both hands pounding the steel

where we were. I bet we all were, that's why the building vibrated. We made it

vibrate.

KESSEL! That play has to have a 1/10 chance in working, and Kessel buried it.

Price's face is awesome, he looks like someone who went down the the final case

on Who wants to be a Millionaire? and it turned out to be $1. You have to wonder

how his difficulties in the playoff last year will effect him. When Roy got to

the playoffs he was unbeatable. I'm not convinced Carey can a game changer like

that.

Then Montreal ties it. Metro did a lot for us last year, but on that play, he

fucked up big time. He was guarding a Bruin with the Canadien behind him. Come

on Glen, he was right behind you! You have to guard the white team, not the

black team. My blood pressure shouldn't be riding now.

AND CAM NEELY KILLS THE GHOST NINJAS! Sturm buries it to take the lead. He

absolutely wanted that more than Hamrlik did. He took it from him two times.

Marco was basically screaming at him that "I AM A MAN!" I remember people

punching ceiling tiles out of the suite we were in. Names escape me.

Crowd smells it now. Jack is yelling. I'm yelling. My cat is yelling.

The fleas on my cat is yelling. It's a party, and it's time to shut this show

down.

Now I can finally delete that game. My homage to last season is

complete, and I can move on to this season in peace.

Oh, I love that dirty waterrrr...

Does anybody know if Maine carries versus? I'm up at the University of Maine now and was wondering if it will be carried up here? If so, channel? I would be extremely disappointed if they didn't.

After seeing that play 12+ times, I can safely say Schaefer/Sobotka were onside. I can't imagine how these linesmen continue to get it right at full speed with margins as close as that was. What a game.

I bet they probably have NESN. I know BC doesn't have Versus but you can watch all the B's games at least on NESN I believe.

I don't think that NESN is carrying the game tonight. Not really sure why. We do have NESN up here so I'll be able to watch the games on a regular basis after tonight but it looks like I'll be watching the game online.

The more I think about it I like that the B's start out on the road every year. I think it's good for chemistry and "team building". Plus I like having a surplus of home games at the end of the season as they fight it out for playoff seeding.

Does anyone else have Verizon Fios HD? It looks like the game is on Vs. Golf HD, which isn't included without the separate package purchase... looks like I'll be watching on the standard definition Vs. channel instead. :D

edit: after some investigation, it looks like the Vs. HD channel won't be available until December or so, unless you purchase the sports package that includes the Golf Channel.

Ugh.... 10:20 start. Def Leopard (I missed the intro, but they suck and the drummer has one arm... process of elimination). NO VSHD from charter.

I am not enjoying the start to this so far.

Seriously, WTF is this shit?

Really, I'm confused... did they REALLY delay the start of Colorado vs Boston for a lame ass attempt at an opening night victory party for Detroit featuring British "rockers"? Do they think this is GOOD for ratings in Denver/Boston?

fake edit:

Why did the dude on Vs say that one of the Bruins back from injury is Zdeno Chara? He only missed a handful of games.

He played down the stretch with a torn labrum and had surgery in the offseason to repair it. He didn't play in a bunch of preseason games but is supposed to be ready to go.
