PSK and I went to that game in Cleveland. It was dreadful. Wake gave up 7 runs in an inning and took the wind out of our sails. The one consolation was a back to back to back job by Ortiz-Ramirez-Youkilis.

I was so glad to be in Boston for Games 6 and 7...It would've been serious heartbreak if I was in Cleveland and we'd lost.

I really hope Wake isn't in the post season rotation

I concur. At this point, the rotation for me is:

Lester
Beckett
Matsuzaka
Byrd

You could easily switch the top two, and I think Francona would have J-B starting the first game. I love Wakefield, he's a great guy. He's been great for our community for so long, and his loyalty is unheralded. However, you have to keep his inconsistencies in mind. In the playoffs, he's a risky guy. Byrd has given you some really quality starts since coming here, and I think he can make a nice contribution. Dice-K is the only other guy you really worry about. This team has some question marks, but I feel like the rotation is starting to come together.

As scorching as he was, you had to figure he would have a cold streak at some point. I am not worried as long as he is hitting rolling into the playoffs. And he will be.

You're putting Lester ahead of Beckett in a playoff rotation?

What the fuck?

He's fine. 1 for 4 plus a walk...that's not bad. He had two bad games, but he's gonna get hot again. I'm not worried. I joke when he has one bad game or even at bat because that's how much confidence I have in Pedroia's abilities. He's leading the league in clutch right now.

I love Manny Delcarmen!

We can't make the errors of the 1920s when everyone forgot about the Germans, then in the 2000s the Russians. Never let up on evil. Go Mariners.

Some thoughts:

The Byrd and Kotsay pick ups have worked out amazingly well. Kudos to Theo.

If they hold on and win today they will have won 6 series in a row during a vitally important part of the season.

I would like to see Teagarden in a Sox uniform next season.

The depth that this team has right now is just unbelievable. When one guy goes down, another steps up. I have to give credit to Theo, the FO, and the scouting who have brought guys like Colon, Byrd, Kotsay, Bay, Casey, and all these guys. A lot of guys have stepped up and we've really needed it with the number of injuries we've had. Our one mistake was probably sticking with Buchholz too long. Other than that, we've been brilliant. I feel confident about our chances to repeat even if DJ Drew does not return.
