Rays have ZERO pride, tradition, or majesty.

They can't hold the Yankees jock, because the Yankees know what it means to win when it counts.

Our list of heroes for tonight:

YANKEES (74-64)
Damon CF
Jeter SS
Abreu RF
A. Rodriguez 3B
Giambi 1B
Nady LF
Matsui DH
Cano 2B
I. Rodriguez C
Pavano RHP

Play with pride, win with honor.

GO YANKEES

The Rays will fade all on their own. Stop rooting for the Yankees to start 3-0 on this make or break road trip.

I agree. Pregame talk about Yankees being 7 1/2 out a year ago and then drawing to within 1 1/2 of the Sox convinced me. Go Rays, who will, as you say, f*ck up on their own from now on.

You seriously can't get that ball anymore?

What country is Tampa Bay, or St. Petersburg in? Southern Europe somewhere? Yankees in town in September, your team is in first place and the dump is half full? Pathetic.

I have to say, the reaction on Pavano's face isn't going to make him popular with his teammates...isn't it rather looked down on to show disgust when one of your position players doesn't make a play?

You really think he has any chance of popularity with the Yanks after the past few years? Its Carl freakin Pavano!

This win/win outcome games are fun

I can't believe I'm rooting for Pavano to win a game.

a) because it means I'm rooting for a Yankee
b) it means Pavano is starting

No...that's why I can't believe he's so stupid as to hurt his position even further with that reaction. I mean, he still has to hang in the locker room, travel with the team, etc.

It really is unbelievable that the Trop is half empty and most of the fans that ARE there are MFY fans. Rays fans are pathetic. We did NOT have fun going to the games there in July. Rude, rude people and those FUCKING cowbells. Jesus, pathetic.

We were talking with some Sox fans at the hotel and they actually were told to "Go back to Boston" by a cigar shopkeeper. Pricks.

Well, Longoria is a potential top 5 player in MLB but if being in first place over the Sox and Yankees doesn't put people in the seats, I'm not sure what or who could.

Tampa has a tough schedule here in September, including four left with this Yankees team that absolutely owns them right now. The Red Sox can and should catch or pass the Rays in the coming weeks, which might drop a fading Rays team back into the Wild Card race.

I don't understand what the fuck y'all are doing rooting for the Yankees when they look like they're getting their shit together and could maybe sneak back in it.

Because even with a win they are 7 back with 23 to play.

It's not a big deal if the MFYs just win the series. But we don't want a sweep people. They have three against a AA team this weekend whose best chance at avoiding a sweep pitched today in Arlington.

"BRUISED BUTTOCKS"

Would the distinguished gentleman accept a friendly amendment to his proposal, to wit:
"TAINTED TOCHAS" ? It often flows more sweetly off the tongue when the chant has equal syllable counts in each word.

Evan Longoria and Scott Kazmir are above average players.
