I agree. Pregame talk about Yankees being 7 1/2 out a year ago and then drawing to within 1 1/2 of the Sox convinced me. Go Rays, who will, as you say, f*ck up on their own from now on.The Rays will fade all on their own. Stop rooting for the Yankees to start 3-0 on this make or break road trip.

You seriously can't get that ball anymore?
(Maybe I'm spoiled by Crisp/Ellsbury.)

I have to say, the reaction on Pavano's face isn't going to make him popular with his teammates...isn't it rather looked down on to show disgust when one of your position players doesn't make a play?Fucking Damon.

You really think he has any chance of popularity with the Yanks after the past few years? Its Carl freakin Pavano!
This win/win outcome games are fun

a) because it means I'm rooting for a Yankee
b) it means Pavano is starting

I can't believe I'm rooting for Pavano to win a game.
a) because it means I'm rooting for a Yankee
b) it means Pavano is starting
I can't decide which of those is more surprising (for me, I mean).

"BRUISED BUTTOCKS"
We need to get a SOSH contingent to a Pavano start before the year is out and start that as a chant.

No...that's why I can't believe he's so stupid as to hurt his position even further with that reaction. I mean, he still has to hang in the locker room, travel with the team, etc.

Pavano needs to stop endearing himself to me. It's confusing and it hurts.
I find myself wondering where Pavano will sign his next contract.
LA perhaps?

We were talking with some Sox fans at the hotel and they actually were told to "Go back to Boston" by a cigar shopkeeper. Pricks.

It really is unbelievable that the Trop is half empty and most of the fans that ARE there are MFY fans. Rays fans are pathetic. We did NOT have fun going to the games there in July. Rude, rude people and those FUCKING cowbells. Jesus, pathetic.

they're winning with average players. who wants to root for a pile of pretty good guys? Who's a bonafide star in Tampa Bay?

Well, Longoria is a potential top 5 player in MLB but if being in first place over the Sox and Yankees doesn't put people in the seats, I'm not sure what or who could.

I don't understand what the fuck y'all are doing rooting for the Yankees when they look like they're getting their shit together and could maybe sneak back in it.

Tampa has a tough schedule here in September, including four left with this Yankees team that absolutely owns them right now. The Red Sox can and should catch or pass the Rays in the coming weeks, which might drop a fading Rays team back into the Wild Card race.

Because even with a win they are 7 back with 23 to play.

"BRUISED BUTTOCKS"
Would the distinguished gentleman accept a friendly amendment to his proposal, to wit:
"TAINTED TOCHAS" ? It often flows more sweetly off the tongue when the chant has equal syllable counts in each word.
