Is this common? Its like the human shields were there before the coaching staff....

Very, very uncommon. Weightlifting (the two Olympic lifts, not the other stuff) has a pretty low injury rate and even when someone does get hurt, it's hardly ever that horrific.

Ok. I was just stunned that the human shields were so quick to respond, it was almost as if they had seen this before...

Is it weird that I find the "nothing to see here" human shields oddly symbolic of these Olympics?

I love how the network people keep showing the clips while the announces plead "we don't need to see this again," then the clip plays from a different angle, "we really don't need to see this again," then played from another angle, "well, here it is again, but I really don't want to see this," then from another angle, "aaahhhh, please not again" .....

The Eduardo ankle debacle still takes the cake for this year's most gruesome injury.

I liked how the Chinese swept in to cover anything unpleasant.

I realize this is an unfortunate situation, but I couldn't help but think of this when I saw the video. May God have mercy on my soul.

I recall seeing a video of a guy whose knee collapsed behind him a while back and he came down like a ton of bricks, but I can't find it anywhere. But I can't find too much on Youtube anyway. It must not be that common.

Man, that Hungarian video is hard to watch.

I'm a big pussy and I don't like watching that kind of thing. Can someone describe it a bit, please?

I can.

The weightlifter starts to lift the weights from the ground to first his shoulders and then over his head. He slips on what appears to be a wet floor and his elbow bends funny.

He yelps out but then is able to regroup pretty quick and basically put the weights down without anything serious happening.. thank goodness!

You should check it out though.. it's not bad.

The announcers were great.

After saying "stop showing this" a couple of times, they go and describe it from the last angle.
