Actually, you're wrong. Two of the 3 US guys got over 16's on the vault.

If we're going to complain, at least get the facts right.

Yeah, though actually I was referring to us on the high bar, so I got those facts straight. I mean you'll tell me I'm wrong because of the "difficulty score" but I still fail to see how they rank a single jump as harder than multiple rotations, flips, and spins with an almost-as-difficult jump added on to it. It just seems like the vault is far more valuable to the system/judges for some reason.

Edit: and they took relatively large steps on the vault landings as well, well 2 of them did.

I don't know why one is more "difficult" than the other. But the US had their turn on the high-scoring vault as well. It's not like China got to do it and the US got stuck with a lower scoring event. Everyone has the same chance to do the things that rate a 7.2.

The "steps" are small deductions. They seem like they should be more, but they're not.

I admit I didn't see the US on vault, so I guess this is more a question of how the events are weighted, really. Like you said, the steps are relatively small and I think they should be much bigger on vault, than say high bar.

China has yet to do high bar, correct?

That seemed really short.

The 3 Americans all had a difficulty of 6.60 on the vault. The Chinese had 6.60, 7.00, and 7.20. That's a point difference right off the bat. Add to that the fact that China is the best in the world on the vault...

China totaled 49.325 on the vault, the US 48.225--basically the only difference was the difficulty rating.
