Re: men's gymnastics, I can never watch the pommel horse without immediately thinking about Kurt Thomas in Gymkata. The climactic fight scene where a stone block which just happens to have 2 little handles on top appears out of nowhere, which Kurt then uses to destroy about a hundred enemies, is one of the greatest scenes in cinematic history.

Yes, the US has a men's gymnastics team as well. They have a shot at a team medal tonight.

The US team is in 6th, but only 1.025 out of medal range.

For the all-around, Jonathan Horton (8th) and Alexander Artemev (19th) go for medals later in the week.

Horton also goes for an individual event medal in horizontal bar (6th) and Artemev (7th) in pommel horse.

I like when the other team starts off with a huge error. I'm an arrogant American.

China will win this thing. They could take a shit on the pommel horse, stick the judges nose in it and still pick up a 16.1

Only drama is for the bronze...something like 4 teams in it.

I dont watch gymnastics much...but looks like the US is in surprisingly good shape through 2 events...

Granted, the gold is locked up by home cookin (no MSG), but given the injury situation, ANY medal would be one of the American team's finest moments IMO.

fwiw, i dont like "judged" sports. waaaaay to easy to manipulate the results.

that said, seems the chinaman nailed that one.
