Source: http://trades.mlblog...ary_tejada.htmlThe Tigers and Red Sox sent scouts to Minute Maid Park Monday to look at shortstop Miguel Tejada, and the Red Sox are also checking out right-hander Geoff Geary. It's unlikely the Sox are serious about Tejada, who has one year and $13 million remaining on his contract and Boston is pleased with 24-year-old Jed Lowrie, who has been filling in for the injured Julio Lugo. It would be surprising if the Astros traded Geoff Geary, considering they're looking to bolster the 'pen, not detract from it. Sources within the club place the Astros' chances to make a deal by the Thursday deadline at 30 percent. The main focus is bullpen help.

http://news.bostonhe...position=recentWord out of Houston is that the club has been scouting reliever Geoff Geary, who gave up one hit and no runs in 1 innings during the Astros’ 5-4 win over Cincinnati last night. The 32-year-old right-hander has a 2.66 ERA in 38 appearances, and is equally effective against right-handers and lefties.
Yet just because Geary has drawn the Sox’ interest doesn’t mean any kind of deal is imminent, especially considering Houston is believed to be looking for its own bullpen help.
Geary joins Colorado’s Brian Fuentes, Baltimore’s George Sherrill and Atlanta’s Will Ohman as other rumored relievers who have drawn interest from the Sox. While Fuentes and Sherrill, both closers, figure to command players the Sox aren’t willing to part with, Ohman, a 30-year-old lefty with a 2.84 ERA this season, might serve as a better fit.

Ohman, a 30-year-old lefty with a 2.84 ERA this season, might serve as a better fit.
Ohman's splits v. LHH are pretty attractive:
(88 PA) .160/.218/.259, 4 XBH (2 2B, 2 HR), 6/25 (BB/K), 5 R
And our own lefty specialist v. LHH:
(86 PA) .222/.337/.375, 6 XBH (3 2B, 1 3B, 2 HR), 12/13 (BB/K), 10 R
It might take more to get Geary than it would Ohman for the simple fact that Ed Wade probably still thinks he is in the race. But what would Ohman cost? And then what do you do with Lopez?
