Dgilpin had a suggestion and I think it is an outstanding one. I am running with it. Thanks for the suggestion, Dgilpin.

However I think a really cool auction item would be a probationary 1 year membership for us lurkers to bid on. It would only be 1 year, during that time if it was obvious the lurker was contributing nothing positive to the site he would be demoted back to lurker status. However if he proved his worth during that time he could be considered for full time membership. It's just an idea that I think would create a lot of interest in the lurker population and generate some additional income for a great cause.

Let's do it.

I'm adding my own caveat to this one. Because of the shitshow that was the poker membership thing, I am adding the right to demote the winner at any time. This can happen even before the one-year probationary period is up. If this does happen, the winner agrees that the winning donation is non-refundable.

If need be, I'll act as a mentor for the winner. If anyone has any problem with the winner at any time, contact me. I feel so strongly about what we are doing here, that I'll take a leap and vouch for the winner's membership in advance. If a person pays whatever it takes to get on the board, I think they will tread carefully and a "mentor" will not be needed. If the winner does in fact reach the end of the one-year probationary period, then at that point it will be determined if he/she can stay on by all of the dopes. The vote must be unanimous.

Members cannot bid in this auction and their bids will not count towards the current high bid. This auction is not open to any previously banned members of SoSH (and believe me, we can easily find this out).

Any bid in this auction signifies acceptance to these terms.

Retail value: $.69

Bid early and often. This one ends on 7/26 at 9pm EDT. This is for one probationary membership and there can be only one.

Is this for real? I was wondering why you hadn't been posting in P&G lately. Then again, you're not on the fantasy league board much either, so I thought maybe there were personal issues going on.
