Here's the deal. The winning bidder will get to bring 2 friends and play with me (as the fourth) at a public or potentially private course, of their choosing on a date/time to be determined as soon as reasonably possible following the auction. The only caveat is that it has to be within reasonable proximity to Boston. I'd probably be willing to go as far as 75 miles from the City in any direction. Greens fees have to be "limited" to $150 per person, which rules out very few courses. I would suggest a course like Red Tail CC in Devens, Pine Hills in Plymouth, etc. but obviously, whatever works for everyone. If the bidding goes high enough, other courses and distances may come into play though.
So, to break it down, I will pay the cost for the foursome, including greens fees, carts, bucket of balls if range isn't included. I will also buy the meal (lunch/dinner depending on what time we play) and will pay for drinks and the like, within reason. I'm not the greatest golfer in the world (i'm a 10 handicap), but I understand the game and most importantly, I know how to have and give people a good time out there.
If the winning bidder and his/her friends are terrible golfers, ie. couldn't break a 110 and generally doesn't understand the game, I'll need to know as some of these courses shouldn't be played by high handicappers, so that has to be taken into account, but general suckitude is not something I discriminate against. I play with a lot of bad golfers, and all I ever say is "If you're gonna suck, just do so with a sense of urgency."
