This game cannot come soon enough.

Projected lineups -
Boston:

Sturm-Krejci-Kessel
Lucic-Savard-Murray
Axelsson-Metropolit-Nokelainen
Schaefer-Sobotka-Thornton

Chara-Ward
Ference-Wideman
Stuart-Hnidy

Thomas

Montreal:

A. Kostitsyn-Plekanec-Kovalev
Higgins-Koivu-S. Kostitsyn
Latendresse-Lapierre-Dandenault
Begin-Smolinski-Kostopoulos

Markov-Komisarek
Hamrlik-Brisebois
Gorges-Bouillon

Price (should be Halak  )

Bergeron wasn't cleared as of 11:55 AM on Sunday - I doubt he's cleared for this game, and I'd just rather he watch from the press box tonight. Too much is riding on this to risk breaking up the chemistry this team's got against the best team in the conference. Let's do it.

My one goal tomorrow is to be coherent for this game. I have no confidence in Tim Thomas, I have no confidence in the offense, but I have confidence tomorrow.

This team has been incredible. I've been in Australia since January yet they have gotten me out of bed at 8 or 9 am just to watch the choppy internet feed and follow through SOSH every playoff game. I get home in 3 days so a win tonight insures that i actually get to see part of this run...WIN

I want to see two things.

1) An intimidatingly loud, madhouse arena. This is easily, no doubt, the best Habs team since they won the Cup in 93 and they need some help.

2) Some man management from Carbonneau. It's really freakin obvious this team is tight and probably in a state of panic after going down 3-1. The Habs are a better team, it's about not flipping out and going to pieces.

3) Price to play well. The Bruins were awesome on Saturday but one or two of those goals were a little soft.

Come on, fellas. Bring the Cup home for your 100th anniversary season.

As much as it pains me to stay out of the game threads, I haven't been in one in a while and the B's are playing great, so I don't think I'm messing with the chemistry on that tonight either. So I'm a little late on the game 6 discussion, nothing to really add except that it was one of the top 3 greatest games I've ever witnessed.

Can't wait for the game tonight!

Oh and EJ, I'm glad Kessel is back!

At this rate, the Sox game this morning will be good for my relaxation.

The one thing we've seen so far in this series is that the Montreal defense can be had. They are soft soft soft. We had all been talking about their team speed, but their defense is a weakness which the Bruins can and have exploited over the last two games.

I think this was a point lost on a lot of people, especially not watching both teams all year. Montreal has always had difficulty if you can bottle up their PP and offense. Bruins have done a pretty good job of that. They've also been hitting the Montreal defense all series long. Everyone is throwing their body around in there, and I think it's really affecting them. On Sturm's goal he hit the defenseman (Hamrlik?) twice and took the puck from him both times. The second of which led to the game-winner.

I suspect Montreal will come out a blaze in the first 10 minutes, but if the Bruins can withstand that brief little storm unscathed, I think their chances increase exponentially.

From Fluto:

Tonight will be Bill McCreary's second game of the series. McCreary and Greg Kimmerly were the referees for Game 3 (2-1 Boston win in overtime).

McCreary and Kimmerly called a total of 11 penalties in Game 3. There were no power-play goals scored.

Tonight will be Kevin Pollock's first game of the series.

Prior to the series, one of the points I made was that the refs need to crack down on diving. I can't complain because we've seen more diving calls made this series than we've probably seen in all of the regular season. Where this becomes a double-edged sword is how they always take the other guy with them to the box, making it a 4-on-4.

4-on-4 plays right into the Habs strengths and, essentially, leaves us shorthanded. Everytime it's been 4-on-4 this series, it ends up looking like a Habs power play.

I don't think I've ever felt a game was more 50-50 than this one tonight. I honestly have no clue how it's going to play out. B's have the momentum but the Habs have a home arena and game 7 history on their side.

I am absolutely giddy over the idea of a B's/Pitt series. Win one more game and it becomes a reality.

Win or lose I want this game to be decided by the players on the ice not the zebras.

I'm going to lose it if MTL gets any more 4-4 play because of BS dives that draw BS penalties.
Isn't it obvious that part of their game plan is to get the game to 4-4 and open up the ice?

That is 10000% right. They dive and the worst case scenario is a 4 on 4 situation which works to their advantage. Too late for this series of course but the NHL needs to make the dive a solo penalty and give the other team a PP. It's disgusting and an insult to hockey how much they dive and flop every game.

Yes McCreary is probably ideal, I missed gm 3 but looking at the box score there were no diving penalties called and the calls were very even.

I was certain the Bruins would win on Saturday, not so much tonight.

With that said, as has already been mentioned, this game is about as close to a 50/50 game as a game can get.

The odds however favor the Bruins (+175).

Ahh, I'm so psyched, go B's!

actually MON is at -200 for this game which makes them a 2-1 favorite for the game tonight.
Of course lines are set based on the way the oddsmakers expect the public to bet not necessarily on who they think will win.

Agreed. Montreal's defense, really, is their offense. The Bruins dropped 8 in season games because Boston's tendency is to sit back while Montreal's is to go for the jugular. As a result, whole games were played in the Bruins' zone. Hard to score from behind your own net.

Boston's tightening up of the neutral zone has forced Montreal to play some defense.

The B's ended up winning only 41% of the face offs the other night. They only won 16% in the first period but stepped it up a bit in the 2nd and 3rd period.

That part of the game needs to be focused on tonight in a big way. Anything under 45% is unacceptable in a series where puck possession is so important.

I think the B's should dress Neely tonight. He's just as fired up as any player I've seen. The Habs reaction to seeing him take the ice would be similar to the Chiefs seeing Oggie Oglethorpe.

Ok. I just got back last night from my hockey tournament in Lake Placid. I can say without a doubt that watching Game 6 in the bar that was half Bruins fans and half Habs fans was the highlight of the weekend. That bar was probably as electric as the Garden was, and it was pure pandemonium for Sturm's goal. I haven't been that amped up as I was for the last 10 minutes of that game.

Looking through this forum, I've missed a lot of discussion and Game threading, which is fine. I've been offline for all 3 wins, and I am going to keep it that way tonight. That said, I've never been more in love with the game of hockey than I am this weekend. Just an unbelievable weekend all around, a must-see win Sat night, and they are event viewing tonight.

Let's Go B's!!

With most of his teammates showered and dressed, Patrice Bergeron is still on the ice with assistant Doug Houda, a clear indication that he will not play tonight.

http://www.boston.co...eron_still.html

Rob Simpson is interviewing Chiarelli now and saying "Possibly a big situation with Bergeron developing or not..." Chiarelli is basically saying bringing him back would mean a lot of changes to the lineup, but they will announce if he is playing or not around game time.

If they're waiting until gametime to announce whether he's playing, it almost seems like he will be playing. Seems like maybe they're waiting until the last minute to give the rest of the team a maximum adrenaline lift. How would his playing alter the line ups, I wonder?

The one thing I have heard from gamblers is that nobody can truly gauge hockey games. Well at least that's what my buddy said as he was selling his couch to pay his Italian bookie.

The Marathon totally pumped me up for tonight. A lot of B's fans coming out of the blue. Hell, even the BSG wrote an article about them (haven't read it but I really have a feeling that he can't tell Krejci from Noki).

Edit: Link. Alright, just like always BSG does a pretty good job of describing the feelings of many Bostonians who though the B's were dead.

And as Jack Edwards said, "Kessel out of the zone! THERE WILL BE A GAME 7! SEE YOU MONDAY NIGHT!

WIN!!!

I was listening to the 'Big Show' last week (I know, shoot me in the balls) and they were debating whether or not taking Montreal to game 6 or 7 was "good enough". Proponents seemed to suggest that making the playoffs when most analyists had you on the outside looking in was good enough. I would agree with this approach if it wasn't for the recent winning ways of the Celtics, Sox, and Pats; all of which we are well enough aware. For this Bruins team to draw more casual fan support they must get past Montreal and see another team in the playoffs.
The fact that they were shunned off NESN in favor of an early regular season BOS v NYY says enough in my mind as to the draw the Bruins have made in the past 2 months.
Its going to take more than one great run to make the Bruins sellout potentials in Boston but a win tonight could carry some serious momentum towards next years ticket sales. Then again, today is Patriots day and I have been drinking since noon.
