In a minor transaction, the Dodgers on Monday night dealt right-handed pitcher Eric Hull to the Boston Red Sox for 23-year-old shortstop Christian Lara.
Hull had been designated for assignment March 31 to make room on the roster for Angel Chavez. Hull, 28, pitched in five games for the Dodgers last year and spent the rest of the season at Triple-A Las Vegas, where he had a 2.74 ERA.

Lara seemed to have lost luster as a prospect; he hit .238/.325/.399 in Lancaster last year at the age of 22. Eric Hull is no prospect; he's 28, but he finally put together a decent season last year in AAA. Hull walks a bunch but strikes out a ton; last year, he had an 11/3.5 K/BB. The year before (also in AAA), he had a 9/5 K/BB. Basically, I guess we're hoping he sorted his control out.
