Like I said, if your definition of a puck moving defensemen is Jeff Finger and your definition of a natural goal scorer is Alexander Ovechkin then it's pointless for me to argue because I'm not going to win.
Not interested in arguing, just in understanding the POV because it will directly affect the Bs cap situation. I think the reason the Bs had to dish out to get a guy like Ryder is exactly because goal scoring is the rarest commodity in hockey. This is a guy who completely went down in flames last season and walked away with a pretty hefty contract. At least Jeff Finger had a pretty solid year for Colorado before he hit the market. If Kessel does break out like he's showing he will, he's going to get real expensive real fast. And he'll be worth the dough because you just don't find guys like that very often on the free agent or trade market. Especially at a point where, like Kessel, they have 8-12 years of productivity ahead of them.
Is Dennis Wideman a puck moving defenseman? I think there are more Dennis Widemans around than Dany Heatleys. There's a reason the players that hit for 40 goals a year consistently are considered the best ones in the game.
