Best part: Letterman asked Paps what happened in the ALCS after they were down 3 games to 1 and what woke them up. Paps said it was the meeting Big Papi called, aka David Ortiz, or Large Father... no coaches, just players (we'd heard also Lowell, but he just mentioned Papi). It was bleeped on the show, and Paps mouth was even blurred, but I think Paps said Ortiz said 'if you wear a Red Sox uniform, you're a bad mother f*cker' (had to be). Then, Letterman looked through his script as if he was looking for those words. Too funny.

Wow, Letterman clearly didn't do his research. He thought the ball hit to left in the bottom of the ninth was the last out, and that it was to center. And I'm not sure why he tapped his watch -- that was really strange. Either way, very entertaining. I can't get enough of Papelbon.

Depends on your market, around 12:35am here.

I imagine there's much consternation in MFY land. Much like Shit in a Suit, MFY fans feel entitled to Rings and view anything less as abject failure. I do worry, however, that when we start talking favorably about Signing Gay-Rod and seeing our young guns more as trade fodder than next season's stars we may be getting into that MFY frame of mind. Not that I don't like winning rings, but I prefer having to grind it out like we did this year with good, Red Sox-style players than just loading up with so much mercenary talent that we walk unopposed into the victory interviews like the 90s-Yanks.

Manny on Leno, NOW.

Good to see this. Thought Leno would be off the air b/c of the strikes. I'll have to wait another hour before I get to see it.

Edit: Manny was awesome. He's a classy guy, really. And a gentleman. I think Manny is my favorite player. OK, maybe just favorite position player of this era who's not a DH and who will not be a rookie next year.

Edit 2: Papi opening w/ his "Big Papi" story. Never heard that one before. Not to dis on Papi, he's cool and all, but Manny was so much better. I think I like Manny's high-pitched laugh better, too.
